Just saw the pilot on Hulu ... seemed a little too teeny but with some potential. Given that it's a WB show, there's a strong chance it'll suck. But what do you folks think? Is it worth continuing for a while? Hulu has the entire first season up but they lack the latter two.

^As did I. Yes, some teenage 'angst' played with along with aliens and yes, much romance, with Micheal/Maria the most entertaining of the relationships, and a young Katherine Heigel to boot and Jonathan Frakes produced, directed a few eps and appears as well.

What specifically is good about the show though? Does it have a good storyline or strong Sci-Fi elements? The characters seem OK so far, but it seems like it could devolve into another stupid WB style high school drama (ala Smallville). Am I wrong?

I enjoyed it, but I recall that I just stopped watching in one day in season two and didn't really get back into it.

The show did a good job of balancing scifi and teen romantic elements. Once and a while it would stray too far in one direction or the other, but taken as a whole there was a good balance. I also have to say that every character was perfectly cast. Despite the romantic stuff and angst, not once did I want a character to get stomped on by a horse *cough*Lana*cough* oh excuse me.

Hrrmmmm....tough to say really. I always thought the best part of the show were the characters themselves. I am not an expert about the show but I did enjoy watching it. If you get into their whole point of view most of the episodes I saw were riveting and exciting. The sci-fi elements kick in with the alien stuff and each persons own individule powers. Might get hookey in that regard but it worked for me. I have never seen Smallville so I can't compare.

You'll like it if don't expect too much from it. It's not great, but it's not bad.

From what I remember, the first season was the most balanced between teen drama and sci-fi elements. The second season leaned a little more towards the teen elements, and the third more towards the sci-fi elements.

As a whole, it's a watchable series, and in places good, bordering on very good. I recommend you give it a try.

I recall the mix a bit differently.

Season 1 - Mostly teen angst.
Season 2 - Mostly sci-fi.
Season 3 - A more even mix of both.

I really became attached to the characters on Roswell like few other shows. The characters seemed real so it grounded the premise. I cared about them and felt like I was along with them for their journey of discovery. Also when it was often them against the whole world.

The likability of the characters is why though I am a lifelong Superman fan, I greatly prefer this show to Smallville.

Hmm its been couple years since I have watched my DVDs. Thinking about the show makes me want to watch it again!

Same here, I remember getting the whole series and starting it up. I definitely enjoyed the first season in a "fun show" sort of way. Quickly started up the second season, but somewhere along the way, I stopped, got distracted, and didn't continue on.

I liked it enough to want to start watching it again sometime! So, I guess that's positive praise.

I guess I'll keep watching and see where things go. I was intrigued by the episode where Max heals Liz's grandmother, so hopefully they will continue to explore those abilities.

Certainly understandable! Her role was kind of small and more supporting in the beginning. She was given more central focus in the 3rd season. I am not surprised that she has gained greater success after the series. While she is stunningly beautiful she is a good actress as well. She showed her first signs at being good at comedy on Roswell.
