Romulan's and the Borg

I wasn't expecting to see the Borg cube at the end of Picard. Something is telling me that perhaps the Narada and Nero were Synthetics and their actions in destroying Vulcan comes from a deeper sense of a more terrible new foe than even the Borg.

Could the Borg have created humans drones that are human all the way down to the sub-quantum level but all in and are still Borg?

How did you manage to miss the cube in the various trailers?

Doubt it.

It's more likely Borg tech is being used to enhance positronic networks to create the Synths. My guess is perhaps there was a sleeper subroutine in the dismantled Borg tech that is "activated" at some point and causes them to go rogue. But I could be wrong.

Lore tried to install positronic brains in biological bodies, the Tal Shiar upgraded the Narada with Borg tech... Perhaps Maddox continued Lore's work with Hugh's help

The Borg Collective was destroyed in the finale of Voyager, I think Tal Shiar agents are simply using Borg tech to rebuild the Empire and are kidnapping former Borg drones to use their nanoprobes to further their agenda.

Giving the Borg a long history with the Romulans and vice versa is one of the fun things we can do with the two species. Perhaps the origin of the derelict Cube will be revealed. Hopefully not, though.

Yet another expendable Queen bit it, and apparently one Transwarp Hub was exploding a lot. Not much in the way of specific statements or graphic explication there. But I'm sure we'll learn more soon.

It hardly was a main antagonist at any point. Enemy of the week, perhaps. But even though never really defeated, the Collective could be safely forgotten between those weeks. For years on a stretch sometimes, which is more forgetting than even the Romulans got.

I hope not!

Eh, the Borg Collective was a one trick pony after a while, having them try to assimilate Earth and Picard stops them would be old hat at this point. The Romulans using Borg tech for their own purposes puts the Borg's dangerous tech in the hands of people who more underhanded in their methods and makes for a dangerous enemy.

Agree. Please leave the Borg behind.

Well...there's no way they have an abandoned Borg Cube as part of the story by accident. So, we can assume that something to do with the Borg will be relevant to the season arc. I just hope it's not "we have to stop the Borg because they want to be evil and take over everything." I hope there's something deeper and more subtle going on there than just "uh oh...here come the Borg again."

Of course there's something to do with the Borg coming up. That's already established with the presence of the Cube, 7, and Hugh. They've shown Borg drones having their implants removed by Romulans in the trailers. The Borg cube has a sign that says "No assimilations in XXX days", where the XXX works out to be roughly 14 years.

They make it pretty clear that the Borg are not the antagonists.

I've been careful to avoid any potential spoilers, including most of the trailers, so I probably missed a lot of that.

I just think that the Borg, after having grown more and more powerful for centuries, despite resistance including viral attacks from countless species, should not have been completely destroyed by one Admiral from the future.
