Rogue One (2016) [SW Anthology Series)

An interesting point is beginning to emerge here. this story is set to revolve around the Rebel's attempt to thwart the Empire and acquire the plans needed to destroy the Deathstar.

I bet a lot of people are going to be on the edge of their seats to see how that turns out.

The description of how this movie plays out-notably that the use of the Force is virtually non-existent seems odd to me. I ain't Wars IMO without the Force - and just another space battle film.

It's akin IMO to having Star Trek without the existence or pre-existence of the Federation.

Honestly thats like saying a movie about Klingons wouldnt be Star Trek...
Or a movie about a child, an Ewok(s) and an Old Man wouldn't be a Star Wars Movie <Runs>

It's not the destination. It's the journey.

That is why Platoon was a terrible film because we knew how the war ended, same with Schindler's list.

Platoon and Schindler's List were based on real events and nobody ever paid sixty bucks to take their family to a history teacher.

Feel free to embellish jokes, I'm just doing the Devil's Advocate thing.

Yeah, and "Valkyrie"... I mean, come on, everyone knew Tom Cruise wasn't going to succeed at killing Hitler, so why the fuck did Bryan Singer even bother?

I've never seen Titanic, I know the ship sinks. There can't be anything interesting that happens before that and during the sinking.

There seems to be a very odd blurring of the line between fantasy and reality going on here.

Then again, for me that's just called Tuesday.

The thing is, we know the Death Star plans get stolen and sent to Princess Leia.

We have no idea how this was done. Nor how they found out about the Death Star in the first place. Nor is any of those involved survived. We don't even know if that was their mission at the start. They could have been raiding a shipyard or trying to blow up some garrison, when they discovered the existance of the Death Star and its plans.

The old opening crawl stated that the Rebels had won their first victory against the Empire. During that battle spies stole the plans for the Empire's Death Star and that Leia was taking them home to save her people.

Let's take another example - everyone knows how Romeo and Juliet ends... same for Carmen but people keep going...

Presently that would fall under the "until contradicted, it would be Farlander". I did look it up afterwards, and they do place his name on a pilot that was at the briefing for the attack on the Second Death Star (so they have a live actor that has been named as playing Farlander in Return of the Jedi), which in theory make the character canon, though not necessarily all that that character has done still happened. just that he exists. The old EU has him as a B-wing pilot for Endor which fits the actor's clothing. The EU has it as his X-wing that Luke is flying at Yavin, while he took over one of he Y-wings. Perhaps because an X-wing's controls are closer to that of a T-16 Skyhopper that Luke use to fly on Tatooine while the Y-wing's controls are different (because the X-wing and Skyhopper are built by the same company.

And Hemingway spoils For Whom the Bell Tolled right in the title of the book.

Ahhh, well maybe not a good argument with that one. I get sleepy just thinking about that movie.

I just wonder if general audiences are going to want to go backwards and revisit an event from another angle from a fictional universe? Obviously, the fans will eat it up.
