RIP John Hughes

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Rest in peace, John. :( Breakfast Club and Ferris Buellers are two of my favorites from the '80's.

:(

That's too bad. Ferris Bueller's Day Off is awesome, and he was behind many other well-known films of the 80s and 90s as well, either as a director (Weird Science, Sixteen Candles, and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles), or as a writer/producer (the National Lampoon movies, the Home Alone movies, and others). There's a lot of his stuff I haven't actually seen -- I should really remedy that.

R.I.P. Mr. Hughes.

Uncle Buck, one of my favorite movies. :(

Rest in peace, Mr. Hughes.

John

Damn. Planes, Trains & Automobiles is one of my all-time favourite movies. Many of his others were gems, too.

RIP. :(

Goodbye, John Hughes! I just heard about it on the news just seconds ago.

He was the king of the Brat Pack movies. If there was anyone who defined young people, and not just those in the '80s, it was him.

My favorite John Hughes movie moment is well-known, of course.

He was one of the iconic directors of his time. He will be missed and his fine work will be long remembered.

Oh man, I really enjoyed his work. RIP Mr. Hughes, you've left a great legacy.

Literlly just read about this. Weak, love his films

Its all about Uncle Buck!

RIP

Sure his films might seem a little hokey and dated today, but to those of us of a certain age his films are one of the touchstones that help define our sense of nostalgia.

Oh no. The man that helped define the "brat pack" of actors. He would also drop in any Chicago reference any chance he got.

Ferris Bueller lived in Chicago

John Candy's family in "The Great Outdoors" was from Chicago

The two nerds in "Weird Science" lived in Chicago

The Neighborhood from "Home Alone" was used twice(He wrote the movie) and in "Planes Trains and automobiles"

Hughes was a great talent who made commercially viable films that were also, more often than not, films that had genuine emotion behind them. It's hard to believe that he didn't direct after 1991. He'll be missed.
