Rewatching Farscape...

Crais is definitely a Travis equivalent, but any resemblance will inevitably fade as the series gets its own mojo.

Dont get me wrong. I have no problem with the show. Rygel's scene was hilarious.
I didn't think you were. In any case I have no problem with anyone not liking this or any other show. I don't like Discovery or Lower Decks - they're not to my taste so I watch other stuff. I think Farscape has worn pretty well seeing as it's over twenty years since it first aired.

The effects hold up pretty well, and the choice to use puppetry for aliens makes for an enduring stylistic choice that holds up much better than CGI effects of the day or people in make-up and prosthetics (ie. it doesn't date the show as much as other programs from the day).

Jusr re-watched "the Locket". Awesome episode. I had forgotten much of it. A very emotional/dramatic episode.

Jeez Louise, is the BDSM thing really an issue? I mean, I know I'm far more comfortable with leather and BDSM motifs than the average person, but there was nothing in the show that I even raised an eyebrow to. It's like people remarking about things like foot-fetish as "Extreme."

I mean, to each his own, but why does this even need comment? The show had a "style" as evidenced by John, Aeryn, and plenty other's outfits, as well as Chiana's raucous behaviour. Not to mention Pilot's bondage to Moya. That was all part of the show.

I guess we need a thread about how disturbed we were with the TOS pilot that had Chris Pike in a cage being forced to imagine sex with an Orian slave girl. Sheesh.

Stating personal preference does not mean "disturbed " or having "issues" with.

Farscape used to be among my favourite series.
After a while it wasn't anymore.
Perhaps a rewatch should happen some day.
I'm not sure it will happen but who knows.

I don't remember exactly why Farscape got lost but I think one of the biggest reasons was Zhaan.
After Virginia Hey left the series it just wasn't the same good series it was in the first two seasons.

Farscape was definitely a show that went through a couple of changes. The first was the villain shift, and then Zhaan leaving. The characters that they brought on afterwards were confusing to say the least. I think there are some excellent episodes in the later seasons, and I think Season 3 has some of my favorite episodes from the series overall. Crichton as a character has a much different outlook, and I enjoyed that character development. But, the newer characters were harder to enjoy.

It's odd, season 3 is by far my favorite for so many reasons, but Zhaan was also one of my favorite characters and she left after the fourth episode.

In retrospect, I wonder if they could have written an episode that allowed Zhaan to adopt a different appearance so Virginia Hey didn't have to suffer the adverse side effects she was experiencing with the makeup.
