Yeah, I just watched it again with subtitles on. It does, however, sound more like he says Una at this point though. Seeing as it follows on from "conn", it does seem possible that he could actually have been saying either.

Have to admit, I'd completely missed this first time around.

I thought Pike was saying "and, uh". The Netflix subtitlers got it wrong.

Mount has a southern accent that he sometimes doesn't quite cover. The first time through, I thought he was giving the conn to "Anna." :techman:

Let's just go with Una Robbins (Robbins taken from the Pike Early Voyages comic that can still fit into canon).

So over on Memory-Alpha, some users think that the "Noona" is a bad transcription from Pike saying 'and uh'

The CBS subtitles have 'and uh, Admiral' after he says 'giving you the conn'. While Netflix doesn't.

    Ohmigod, I can't believe I missed that!

(I had the subtitles turned off because they were out of synch with the episode.)

(apparently, the subtitles screwed it up also, calling her Nouna)

First time I thought Pike called her Nanna. Second time I though he said Anna. Third time it sounded like Una. Mount kind of mumbled it.

It all runs together in the dialog as "connuna" so it's an easy mistake to make when transcribing the subtitles. "Conn, Una", "Conn, Noona", and "Conn, 'n', uh" are all going to be nearly indistinguishable in a quick line read in a tense situation. For what it's worth, it sounded like Una to me, but knowing she'd been given such a goofy fanfic pun name in some novels likely primed me to hear it.

    The official confirmation is appreciated!

Shouldn't the Starfleet Admiral at the end, know her name?

^ Yeah, he really should. Also, why would she jest about her name in the first place? Does she read Memory Beta?

That's what I heard too. Feels like a fine name, if I'm being honest.

I also assumed that the guy doing the debriefing was an admiral. But it was pointed out somewhere in this forum that he didn't have all that extra gold nonsense on his shoulders.

But anyway, I think in these instances, "state your name and rank for the record" is just standard procedure.

There's no indication that he doesn't know her name. He's just asking her to state her name for the record, as would be the case in any formal proceeding. Presumably he asked Pike and Spock their names as well, just for the record.

Number One is being puckish, perhaps enjoying a private joke at the admiral's expense.
