I'm far from Discovery's biggest fan but am glad it's doing well. It means more Trek projects will be green lit and increasing the chances of there being a Trek series more to my liking. Had it failed it would mean the end of Trek in both the movies and TV and we wouldn't have the return of Picard to look forward to.

CBS really ought to just make AA into the Trek Channel- all the films, all the series, several new shows and movies, talk shows, fan shows, convention coverage, etc. It's a goldmine waiting to happen.

Except for that pitch for the kids show on Nikelodeon. Teens find a starship and run wild having adventures, sounds horrible. And Trek themed sitcom.

I'll be honest, I love the show and would love to think of this news as a win for it, but I frankly don't understand how this translates into viewership/subscription numbers. Until CBS shares those, I don't really think about the Parrot reports one way or another. Sorry.

Clearly people are engaging with it and posting about it, and that’s great. It doesn’t need to be more than that. Passion can be a useful metric, even if this doesn’t give us comparative viewing numbers.

When aren't we passionate, though? Trekkies are downright obsessive.

That was my point earlier in the thread. This analysis is much less revealing for fans than for outsiders looking in. And probably less useful for Trek shows than other programs that don’t have die-hard online fanbases. If as many people suddenly started posting about some new Netflix show, that would be a huge win. For Trek, it’s to be expected.

Somewhat agreed, but it doesn't mean that my young sons won't love it.

I point you to the late 90's and early 2000's for proof that even Trek fans can become bored and apathetic to the franchise.

Hahahaha! So, people are paying $6 - $10 a month to CBSAA because they HATE Discovery. The issue is, EVEN IF that true (which I doubt as if I don't like something, I WON'T pay for it); I doubt CBSAA cares as it's ALL MONEY THAT'S COMING IN BECAUSE THE SHOW IS ON CBSAA; and in the end, that's all CBS corporate cares about, the bottom line of profit.

I don't want to get into a pissing match about which is the better show, but I thought the new Twilight Zone was doing better numbers than Disco? Or was that just the premiere?

Twilight Zone's premiere did better than Discovery's premiere, but AA had far less subscribers when Discovery premiered.

Twilight Zone was on the weekly Parrot Analytics top 7 streaming shows once during its season. Discovery has been on the top 7 list for pretty much its entire season, and beyond.
