Renew V for a 3rd season.

V was pretty lousy, I couldn't even be bothered to finish the series. The storylines were dull and uninspired, characters uninteresting, and the show was dominated by "idiot plots," as in "why are these people so stupid they don't even ask obvious questions?"

I think fan protests may help prolong a show like ROSWELL that's on the bubble, but it's usually just a temporary stay of execution . . . .

These kind of campaigns have can only have an effect when the show hasn't been canceled yet. JERICHO was a fluke, and not likely to be repeated since it didn't pay off for CBS. The campaign led CBS to believe there were viewers out there not being counted. However when the show came back, the ratings weren't there.

If the show is canceled, you must convince someone there is a profit to be made in producing more. Like buying the DVDs.

The best way to get more seasons of a show you like are produced is by watching, getting others to watch, and letting the network and advertisers know you are watching. And even that isn't a sure thing.

Yeah but buying DVDs and getting other people to watch the show takes effort, can't I just hit a like button on Facebook and have it do the same thing?

Seriously, though, the fact that the page has been up for a week and it only has 381 likes probably says it all...

Why would anyone want this version of V to come back? It was one of the worst SFTV shows of the 2000s to date.

Years ago, at an I-Con, I was approached by fans of the short-lived Starman tv series (remember that one?) who wanted me to sign their petition demanding its return. Just to be polite, I signed the darned thing--and found myself on the mailing list of the "Save Starman!" campaign for years to come.

That's when I realized that no genre show is so forgettable that it doesn't have fans somewhere . . .

^Well, that's different. Starman was a terrific show. I can definitely understand fans wanting to bring it back.

(Its younger lead, Christopher Daniel Barnes, went on to voice Spider-Man in the '90s cartoon, and its star Robert Hays played Iron Man in another cartoon. So when Iron Man guest starred on Spider-Man, it was a Starman reunion of sorts. Meanwhile, Michael Cavanaugh, who played Starman's resident Javert/Gerard/McGee character, went on to play Captain DeSoto in TNG.)

I guess I was less impressed. Certainly, it never struck me as the kind of show that was likely to inspire a passionate cult following--which is why I was so surprised to keep getting mailings from the "campaign" long after the show had faded into history.

McGee.

Such a cool icon to reference.

I tried to watch a few episodes of Starman recently.

Horrible.

Although back in the 80's I couldn't get enough.
