Remembering Don LaFontaine

DS9forever

Commodore

I would have thought someone would have remembered he did the Deep Space Nine promos throughout the series run. One of my favorites he did was for What You Leave Behind: "One captain... one crew... one last stand..."

Promos and trailers won't be the same without him.:( RIP.

Awww... That sucks.

What's odd is that he probably achieved recognizable-fame for the first time with the GEICO ad he just did.

That must have been quite a relaxing career to have. Most of those voice overs are usually done from home.

I searched and found his photo online. You're right, I wouldn't know him, or by name but for that commercial. Very distinctive voice. Yes RIP.

I think it's quite fitting in some ways that he managed to really become well known and recognized for who he was before his death. Most people in roles like that don't really get the credit until after they're gone. So while it's a great shame he's gone...at least there's that.

His voice work for the promo for "The Die Is Cast" is simply amazing. Still gives me chills.

Yes, that's the one. Not many words spoken by him in this one but he really sells every last bit of it.

One of my favorites he did was for What You Leave Behind: "One captain... one crew... one last stand..."

I wouldn't be surprised if LaFontaine wrote that himself. That's classic LaFontaine :)

He will indeed be missed.
