Remember The Doobie Brothers?

Well, they got a new album out. First one in almost 10 years and a whole lot better than that last release.

From the clips I've heard, it sounds like some classic $hit. Good to hear that sound, even one more time.

Video of the first single (a redo of a song from their first album 38 years ago):

Wow, they still sound the same.
That's awesome!!!
I've got to get this.

I know Michael McDonald is in some other new band himself.

McDonald guests on one song with Pat Simmons.

And yeah, Tom Johnston is still instantly recognizable, vocally.

Now I really have to get it.

Thanks for the heads up.:bolian:

Yeah, Tom voice is just as it was from years ago.
It's just like Steely Dan where their sound & vocals are so distinctive that right away you know who it is.

You have to give them credit, they really have managed to keep their signature sound. I saw some clips of the Led Zeppelin reunion from a couple of years ago and I swear Robert Plant sounded like a completely different person (though Page could still wail).

Good for the Doobies! :techman:

The funny thing is, Michael McDonald spent some time in Steely Dan too, though he didn't have as much of a central role there.

Awesome. Good vocals. He actually reminds me a lot like Burton Cummings of The Guess Who. I saw Randy Bachman & Burton Cummings in concert together last summer, and I can tell you, Burton Cummings, just like this guy sounds every bit as good as he did when he first started recording, and in fact his voice is even stronger now than it used to be. Vocally, it's uncanny as they really do sound similar.

This following song was recorded by someone at the concert I went to:

I saw them last year, too. It was unreal.

My favorite Doobie Brothers song is White Sun. Check it out.

Those 2 look a lot alike as well.

Yeah, exactly. Put them on stage together and they could be twins!

Have they ever been seen in the same place? ;)

Also, bought the album last night. Overall, light years better than Sibling Rivalry. Everything written by Johnston, Simmons & Templeman. No "democratic" nonsense.

And Ted Templeman is the producer. He produced all their original output, not including the 2 80's reunion albums and Sibling Rivalry. So he knows how to get the Doobie "sound".

Robert Plant has turned into a real douche lately. I think he got lead singer syndrome again.
