Re: Remember back when the writers were called lazy for not being orig
...in 2006 the criticism was that any prequel by its very nature is lazy writing because it will be a re-telling a pre-existing charcater history. However, in 2009 we are told the writers are lazy because they did NOT simply re-tell the pre-existing character history, but instead changed them.
I understand how not all people can like all films the same way, but I can't imagine how someone would not have a smile on their face while watching this movie. Have people lost the ability to enjoy the simple pleasures in life like a good old-fashioned fun movie?
This movie was fun...let your hair down...enjoy yourself and stop thinking that Star Trek movies are supposed to be serious science fiction. The fun Star Trek films are the best ones. The (pseudo) serious science fiction ones are quite dull.
It's a much finer point than simply "fans will criticize everything"...Aren't we past the point where this "point" is an actual point? What's next, is someone going to make a thread just to make the point that the sky is blue?

It doesn't need to be...it just needs to be enjoyable (and it was). This movie was hardly original.
