Redo the Friday's Child Klingon ship?

There was exterior VFX on the first battle (or sneak attack), showing just the Enterprise and not a glimpse of the enemy vessel. An actual two-party space battle could be shown in the stead of these shots - even though the original shot of torpedoes slamming onto the Enterprise admittedly is a very effective one.

There's no "slot" for the battlefleets mentioned in the dialogue towards the end of the episode, and no dramatic need for them.

In fact, showing them would rather ruin the mood of the episode, as the whole plot hinges on our two heroes seeing X and thinking Y when the truth in fact is Z. No "objective truth" of matters should be shown in the episode, IMHO. We don't really want to see the scene where the Klingons (think they) execute 200 Organians, either.

Yes. Show a D5 or D7 cruiser...or a Bird-of-Prey sized scout in the distance instead of that glowing orange "shape" that kinda looked a little like the outline of a Starfleet shuttlecraft on fire. :p Now that ENTERPRISE has shown plenty of Klingon ships that predate TOS by a century or more, it's high time more Klingon vessels get inserted into the new effects of the old show. Why show lots of Klingon ships in the 22nd century series but almost none in the 23rd century show? :(

I don't know if we have any CGI artists here, but it would be nice to see what this:

...would even look like if it was at all possible to make a CGI model out of it.
Under the right conditions it would be interesting to see an original and authentic looking design that evoked this silhuoette. Now Chekov does report that the vessel is at extreme sensor range so you still mightn't see that much more of it, but it could be done showing something more definitive.

So long as it holds to TOS's simple, ungaudy design aesthetics, I probably won't be bothered by something more distinguishable. But if it becomes an over-designed, aztec'd and neon-lit monstronsity from modern Trek, I'll throw a brick through my neighbor's TV. (Certainly not mine.)

Doesn't the "Raptor" scout introduced in Season 2 of ENTERPRISE kind of have a similar silhouette from certain angles? If so, maybe they could just plug a 23rd century upgraded version of the Raptor into "Friday's Child," since the small ship in that episode has been generally assumed to be a scout-class vessel of limited size and capacity.

It should be replaced with CGI! The only reason that screen shot looks the way it does in Friday's Child is bugetary plan and simple! if they had had the money they would have used a klingon ship model of some sorts! It should be redone and I for one hope they do!

I've thought about it many times, but it would be a stretch to get that thing to look like a raptor. They are, at best, only superficially similar.

This is a low poly concept that same ship I had done a year or so ago. I tried to cross proportions with what Jefferies had as a one-persion Starfleet space-tug, so the operator would be in an upright position in that little upright area.

The nice thing about this idea is that, from certain angles, you could come up with a horseshoe crab motif (which is more apparent in the top view,) albeit with an upswept tail that would likley break it's back. ;)

Interesting. It does look like a horseshoe crab. It also has some similarity to this ship from Enterprise. Wonder if it was intentional (especially considering how different that ship from Enterprise was to everything else).

Knowing Okuda and others who worked on ENTERPRISE, they'll probably make the "Babel" ship look at least a little in color and design aesthetics like the Orion ship that threatened Archer's Enterprise in "Bound" near the end of the series. Sort of greenish in color, with a slight Klingonese/Romulanesque flavoring.
