Have you checked out the youtube vids on it? there's some vids showing the actors talking and joking with a bunch of people on the street during filming. It's hilarious.

LINK 2 < in these clips Cat has some stubble and if you fast forward to 2:05 Kryton calls him over and what he says had me in absolute stitches, check it out.

Great stuff, I think this could actually work.

Well to be honest i'm not impressed with the first ep, the reason being there was no 'fake laughter'.
The fake laughter after every joke is what made Red Dwarf work so well, but with these easter specials they're not using any.

Don't get me wrong, I love Red Dwarf and I love these easter specials i'm just a little disapointed the fake laughter isn't being utilised.

I mean for example, when they were fighting with the octopus in the water tank where was the laughter? it would have fit and worked so well with laughter it would have added to the humour.

I prefer my comedy to not tell me when to laugh. :p

It's the first part of essentially a 90-odd minute special - in a half-hour format, the pace would be more compact with a defined beginning, middle and end - so from that point of view, the pace of the story seems to be going well so far with the introduction of the new character at the right time and with an appropriate and welcome change of pace. :) I'll reserve overall judgement until parts 2 and 3.

it wasn't actually fake laughter - except in season 7. That one was recorded and then shown to an audience whose reaction was added to the soundtrack. Every other season until noew was recorded 'in front of a live audience,' so the laughter was real (if faded in and out in editing), and the cast could pause to ride it out (rather than have it drown out the next line).

I will be watching these--when they hit the states. It's been a long ten years, and I can't wait. :)

Thank god they gave it that ending. I had a feeling it was going to have been all a dream type of deal with the squid thingy.
I hated the idea that they were indeed supposed to be just characters and they'd entered the supposed 'real world'.

These easter specials were great stuff!

I just hope now we're going to get a whole new series out of this. ;) Bring back the dwarfers for good.

According to Doug Naylor he wants to make a new series. It won't be series 9 though, according to Doug series 9 is the series we won't see and is the series where Katchanski (sp?) leaves Dave and takes off which is mentioned in the easter special. So if a new series is made it will be entitled series 10.
