Red Dawn trailer finally out

The acting in that film looks fucking awful. It's unfair to judge a film's direction based off of a trailer but there wasn't one interesting shot in that teaser to make it seem like this film will be at all worthwhile.

The day we all agree that "it can't happen here" is the day it does.

That is why we must be constantly vigilant.

Though I do agree that a subversion from within (such as by Islamofascists) is more likely than an old-style invasion.
I totally agree dude.

This movie however does seem like it will be quite poignant - we should all be worried about the very real possibility of North Koreans invading and unleashing their millions of starving people upon the USA to get welfare checks, food stamps and free health care. The only worse thing than being invaded from within by islamofacists is giving people like that the help they need, it's a truly terrifying thought.

Looks like a solid throwback to some of the worst Communism-fear movies from the 80s. The best was Invasion USA starring Chuck Norris. And the only redeeming quality about that film was, well, Chuck Norris and the rocket launcher duel.

*edit*

Holy shit, that is actually a remake. What the fuck were they smoking when they greenlit this?

"Islamofascists"? What's that? Francisque, fascio and swastika bearing muslims?
und fünf-und-zwanzig Godwin pünkte...

:lol::lol::lol:

I enjoyed the original, but that was during the cold war when there was another big super power that made it (potentially) believable.

In this day and age, I doubt anyone could invade the US without serious nuclear intervention before dropping paratroopers in the remaining cities still standing, and even then the nuclear fallout would likely render the entire country uninhabitable.

I'm glad Will Yun Lee is in it, I like his work, but I think I'd wait for it to come out on DVD.

To be honest, it actually looks like an entertaining, overly patriotic, America Fuck Ya, movie with a totally out there story necessitated by the need of having a plot where some nation invades the US so the normal people can go all "america, Fuck ya!" on them...

Just like the first one.

I'll go see it, but I'm a sucker for "America, Fuck Ya!" movies, so...

I think Battle: LA is more plausible than this film. Yeah I'm probably gonna pass. The original scared the hell out of me when I was a third grader in the 80's. I was actually afraid Russia would invade us. Even if some nations hate us, the global economic backlash alone would be too much. It's a global economy now. Sorry, I'm not buying it right now, maybe america's power wanes in a few decades....And yes I know it's fiction, but I can see that this trailer is pandering to those who think we might actually get invaded.

Forget North Koreans and Islamofascists infiltrating and taking over America. Why isn't anyone concerned that our fictional militia groups have been infiltrated and are being led by a Norse Alien Valhallafascist?

Um, this is a comedy right?

Honestly, I don't really know anything about this film. Is this one of those things that is originally buried by the studio and then released upon the lead's success?

I can't believe Hemsworth signed on for this thing within the last two years. If so, dude needs to find a new agent.

Never saw the original?

Fantastic cast, goofy story. This is just a "suspend ALL belief and go with the crazy idea" movie. Like The Fifth Element or Pluto Nash. Let's hope its more like one than the other.

The film was produced in late 2009, with an intended release date in November 2010, but it was shelved due to MGM's financial woes. When that was resolved, the film was held back again in order to make the villains North Korean instead of Chinese (the studio decided that they didn't want to give up on the rapidly expanding Chinese film market).

As for Hemsworth, he signed on to the project before he became a big star in Thor. Snagging a leading role like this probably seemed like a good opportunity at the time, both for his career and his personal finances.
