I really appreciate Locutus' excellent defence of my comment, but gun nomenclature was never my point. I simply wanted to highlight the obsession of some gun nuts with large weapons: if I had typed "big guns" instead of "assault rifles", my point would have been exactly the same.

Oh, I get completely that it was just an offhand reference that wasn't meant to be specific or taken that seriously. That being said, it also wasn't technically wrong and DataHolmes was missing the point and was trying to discredit the comment for stupid reasons.

If you had typed big guns it would have been fine. Instead you typed "assault rifles", which was a usage fail.

I look forward to seeing him as a baby in the Look Who's Talking remake.

Never seen the original Red Dawn (I'm guessing it didn't travel too well outside the US?) but this trailer does make the remake look like it's ready made for drunken students to watch in an ironic way.
