Red Angel Theories- Post Here

Some thoughts, and I think there is a zero chance this will happen, but I think it would be awesome if it did.

Introducing the Red Angel as a possible time traveler leaves open lots of possibilities, and my favorite theory is that the Red Angel is a being that knows what happened with Nero, and is trying to fix the timeline.

This would be consistent with every time travel story in Star Trek before Abrams, where it's one timeline, and time travel changes history, rather than the multiverse idea.

There is a Temporal Police in the 24th century, and for that organization to exist, they must have the ability to detect timeline changes and incursions. If not, how do you police anything?

Oh and that might make for a fascinating Trek series.

This Red Angel can be much further in the future than the 24th century, where existing outside of time can be a possibility.

So Nero travels back in time and changes some things. The most important of which is the death of billions of Vulcans, which would completely change the 24th century as we know it. For example, the odds of Tuvok being alive are astronomically low.

In fact, given the events of the Kelvin Timeline, it seems very unlikely that Earth would exist in the 24th century, because the unique events that led Kirk to go back in time and get the whales are unlikely to happen.

Without Earth, it's entirely possible that the entire Alpha Quadrant falls to the Borg, or there's a Romulan invasion, or the Dominion, etc.

Nero's timeline change would create an entire knew history, and maybe the Red Angel is tweaking things here and there to get the prime timeline back on track.

I think doing that would be a brilliant thing, and would set up Picard's show quite nicely.

I also think there is zero chance they will actually reveal this to be the case, given that they are not done with Abrams' timeline.

Haven't read the whole thread, so apologies if this has been mentioned:

What do folks figure is the significance of:
Spock's shuttle was found in the Mutara sector as he tracked the Red Angel - future spot of Spock's death and resurrection.

The Red Angel is now drawing them to Talos IV. Am I right that it is unclear if this is before or after the events of The Cage? Regardless, it is definitely before the events of The Menagerie, which is the really significant history with Talos for Spock. He was just kinda there for The Cage, but he risks court martial to take Pike to Talos in The Menagerie.

And that upgraded probe reminded me of V'Ger upgraded by intelligent machines on the far side of the galaxy - V'Ger with whom Spock has another life altering interaction - in the future.

Things that make you go "Hmmmm...."

I assumed it was just a name drop Easter egg, but your theory is interesting.

About three years after, IIRC.

Why would crazy Spock fly to the Mutara sector as mentioned in 'Light and Shadows'? Did the Red Angel from the future show him his own (temporary) death at the Battle of the Mutara Nebula?

The writers just wanted to mame drop a familiar name

I was thinking they should have name dropped Murasaki instead, since based on TOS one could infer that location was reasonably close to Talos IV.

Parts of the Mutara nebula survived the explosion of the Genesis device, primitive bacteria within those parts evolved quickly into humanoid form due to being on the edge of the wave, and they propagated back in time with their exo-suits made from reconstituted bits of Reliant's hull.

Too complicated. It's Khan. Alex Kurtzman is behind this remember? Khan's regenerating blood allowed him to survive the Genesis explosion, he pieced together a suit from the Reliant's hull, and now he's going back in time to save certain chosen people (WW3 survivors, evolved Kelpiens, Burnham) to turn into his new Augment army.
