Recommend Some Voyager Episodes For Someone Who Hates Voyager

Dayton3

Admiral
I hated Voyager and stopped watching it regularly after the 3rd season.

But even I recognize that in a series 170 plus episodes long that there were some really great stories.

In particular I loved "Message In A Bottle" I believe it was called.

So if someone hated Voyager in general, and Janeway, Seven, Belanna Torres, and Neelix episodes in particular.

And I hate the Kazon, Vidians, and the Q.

And really doesn't like time travel episodes or ones with the RESET button.

What episodes would you recommend for someone who feels this way?

By the way, I'm partial to starship combat.

A list would be appreciated

I loved "Distant Origin." It and "Eye of the Needle" are probably my favorite episodes.

I'll warn you, though: Some thought the former's premise beyond absurd. My suspension of reality remained intact, somehow. :bolian:

Try "Equinox," too.

Well, I'm probably not going to convince you but:

Warlord
Before and After
30 Days
Projections

It's hard for me to think of very many that I would highly recommend, but the first one that comes to my mind is Scorpion.

Season One - State of Flux
Season Two - The Thaw or Tuvix
Season Three - Scorpion
Season Four - The Killing Game (Even if you hate holodeck stories, it's still pretty fun. ;))
Season Five - Timeless
Season Six - Pathfinder or Barge of the Dead
Season Seven - Workforce

No to State of Flux, The Thaw, and Tuvix.

Simply awful episodes (except for the very end of Tuvix).

If possible no Hirogen and no weird aliens.

And avoid Tom Paris stuff if at all possible.

Wasn't there one called "Dragon's Teeth" that was supposed to be pretty cool? An interesting take on an alien civilization and some serious combat?

"Counterpoint" is my favourite episode of the series, and is one I'd recommend if pressed. As Voyager episodes come, it's unusually clever and well-written.

I'm no Voyager fan either, but one episode I've always just loved is "Blink of an Eye." The ship is trapped in orbit of a planet where time is accelerated, so one second for us is like five years for them or something. Voyager becomes a fixture in their sky as their civilization develops. It's classic Trek, in my opinion. :)

I'd recommend:
"Jetrel" (S1), "Deadlock"&"The Thaw" (both S2), "Unity" (S3), "Retrospect"+"Mortal Coil" (S4), "Counterpoint"+"Latent Image" (S5), "Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy" (S6), "Lineage"+"Author,Author" (S7).
Well, I could recommend some more, but that should be enoug for the moment.

Wow, I didn't know that anyone liked Distant Origin that much. One of my favorite Voyager episodes was Counterpoint, but it is a Janeway episode...

Heh. I'm probably an army of one. :bolian:

I wholeheartedly agree with Ro_Laren and Kegek: "Counterpoint" is firmly in my top ten. I have reservations about certain of its plot implications, but ... to discuss them would be to ruin much of the episode's impact.

It's a little tough to take the thread seriously when almost every major character and alien is out of bounds. There's also the fact that "Message in a Bottle" is listed as one you liked, but it has heavy Doctor and Hirogen elements, which you later say are no-nos. Either give us some clear guidelines without mixed messages, or accept the fact that you will like less than five VOY episodes.

No Hirogen.
No "weird aliens".
No reset buttons.
No Tom Paris.
No Kazon.
No Vidiians.
No Q.
No Janeway.
No Seven.
No Torres.
No Neelix.
No time travel.
No holodecks.
No Doctor.
Hates the show in general.
Doesn't like Ds9 either.
Hated State of Flux, The Thaw, and Tuvix.

Wants: Starship combat.

Since most members of the senior staff are out (except Kim and Chakotay it seems?), virtually all major recurring aliens are out, any unique (weird) one shot aliens presumably are out, and several dramatic staples of the series are out.... I'd say you should go try something else. Star Wars maybe? Lots of starship combat there.

Fairly certain this isn't as serious a thread as OP stated it is. And if it is, that makes it even more comical. "I want episodes of the show that have no elements of the show in it".
