Recommend Some Voyager Episodes For Someone Who Hates Voyager

I'm no Voyager fan either, but one episode I've always just loved is "Blink of an Eye." The ship is trapped in orbit of a planet where time is accelerated, so one second for us is like five years for them or something. Voyager becomes a fixture in their sky as their civilization develops. It's classic Trek, in my opinion. :)

Now, that is one that I've always wanted to see.

What season is it in?

Now, while I listed the elements I did not like, if any of those elements played relatively minor roles (like the Hirogen in "Message In A Bottle" IIRC) then that is more reasonable.

But I will admit that I'm sick of being told to "go watch Star Wars".

If I wanted to watch Star Wars, I would watch Star Wars.

What I want to see is starship combat in the Star Trek universe with the good guys, the Starfleet side winning (with as little help as possible from anyone else).

And I am partial to episodes focusing on Tuvok or even Chakotay (as long as he doesn't do any of the Indian stuff).

^ Well, I think that you'd be better off watching Deep Space Nine for space battles.

Voyager is one little ship in the Delta Quadrant. She's going to have to have help to win in big space battles.

You might like Equinox, though. (Season 5 finale/Season 6 premiere.)

ETA1: The better Tuvok episodes are Ex Post Facto, State of Flux, Learning Curve (S1), Prime Factors, Meld, Death Wish, (S2), Warlord (S3), Random Thoughts (S5), Riddles (S6). He really got the shaft in later years, with some clunkers like Gravity and Repression (S6, S7).

ETA2: Blink of an Eye is S6.

Saw it. Hated it.

I was rooting for Ransom.

Honestly, if your favorite episode was Message in a Bottle, and from what I can tell - for the space battle - you're simply not going to like Voyager. Want big exciting Starfleet space battles? Try DS9. Ya ain't gonna find it here.

One on one ship to ship battles are enjoyable as well.

Then you probably should give Dragon's Teeth a try. Either it or season 7's The Void or Workforce. Timeless is another possibility since it's not really a reset episode and strongly featuers Chakotay.

One episode that I thought was cool was Memorial. It was an interesting concept and really strikes the whole idea of war close to home. That and Blank of an Eye were probably my favorite episodes in Season 6, and it's a very crew oriented story.

No offense, but what is the point in recommending eps to someone who apparantly hates Voy and every character? I see no point.

You said you hated Voy after Season 3, well after Season 3, Voy skyrocketed. Even though I didn't like 7 of 9, I did think that she added to the show.

Some great eps that I would recommend(take it or leave it) would be: Scorpion parts I and II, Night, and The Omega Directive. Those really stick out.

Yet you just did what you were curious others were doing. I know there really is no point, so I've just decided to use this thread as a way to spotlight some great episodes that people never talk about. 30 days was terrific, and so was Memorial. Even if you were on the fence about Voyager, check those two out as some the good this series has to offer.

How about "One Small Step"? I loved that one. A Voyager away team encounters the Weird Space Anomaly of the Week, and learns what happened to one of the lost explorers of early human space travel. It's a wonderful tribute to human exploration and the spirit that drives it, and guest star Phil Morris gives an incredible performance. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen the entire time.

Those were among the ones I thought of. I'd also say "Distant Origin" (one of my favorites, and one that several others have mentioned), "Faces", "Deadlock" and "Waking Moments". Most people hate "The Fight", but I kind of like the episode. It's a bit of a confusing (apparently it was rushed into production, and it shows), but I found it to be a pretty interesting episode. Some probably don't fit the criteria set forth, but when in comes to VOY, I'm not well-versed enough to cull the episodes that don't qualify.

As a VOY loather, try Nemesis for some Chuckles centred stuff.
It's got vidians (at their very worst - nice and menacing), but I think that Deadlock is one of the best eps made.
scorpion 1 & 2
before and after
counterpoint
the void etc.

All right. I guess I was just confused and curious at the same time. :) Anyway, I've seen Memorial and I really enjoyed that episode too. 30 days was ok but it really wasn't my cup of tea. It did have it's good moments though. But I personally liked most of the eps of Voyager..there were a few that I didn't enjoy..I didn't particularly care for Counterpoint and alot of fans loved that ep. I guess they liked that inspector or something? :wtf: Personally I found him annoying.:) And I just watched The Omega Directive yesterday on SpikeTV and I really enjoyed that ep as well..I kinda liked Starfleet keeping secrets and hiding about that molecule that was supposed to disrupt subspace. Very interesting on the scientific part!!! I vaguely remember that ep cause I was studying about omega in high school when it came on that night. I recognized the symbol.. It's omega! :) I thought it was weird and cool that I had just studied about that symbol that day in one of my science classes.

Maybe it would be a good idea just to go through in order and try them all. After Enterprise ended, and there was no more new Trek for me, I went back and watched Trek that I hadn't particularly liked before. Sort of along the lines of what you said, it was still better than non-Trek.

No Hirogen.
No "weird aliens".
No reset buttons.
No Tom Paris.
No Kazon.
No Vidiians.
No Q.
No Janeway.
No Seven.
No Torres.
No Neelix.
No time travel.
No holodecks.
No Doctor.
Hates the show in general.
Doesn't like Ds9 either.
Hated State of Flux, The Thaw, and Tuvix.

Wants: Starship combat.

Since most members of the senior staff are out (except Kim and Chakotay it seems?), virtually all major recurring aliens are out, any unique (weird) one shot aliens presumably are out, and several dramatic staples of the series are out.... I'd say you should go try something else. Star Wars maybe? Lots of starship combat there.

Fairly certain this isn't as serious a thread as OP stated it is. And if it is, that makes it even more comical. "I want episodes of the show that have no elements of the show in it".

Exactly! Dayton3, you can't be serious. If you omit all the elements you don't like, guess what -- it isn't VOY! So I agree that your request can't be a serious one. Too bad your sense of humor is about as funny as a crypt after midnight! Geez, you don't ask for much, do you? :borg: It's like going to a pizza shop and insisting on getting a hamburger! Frankly, your attitude stinks. I just wanted to comment on how ridiculous this post is and to not help you out -- you're not being very thankful to those who genuinely want to help. If you don't want to hear, "Go watch Star Wars," stop insisting on space battles -- there aren't that many in VOY! Watch DSN, for crying out loud! "Spam alert!" -- RR
