Recasting Voyager with actors from today

I would not want a remake of Voyager, HOWEVER this is all in good fun and I don't care about what the budget may or may not be. So, here is my would-be cast. Like I said though, I love Voyager as is and think a cheesy remake would be pretty lame at this point.

Captain Janeway: Kate Winslet. British Janeway!

Chakotay: I'll agree with Adam Beach.

Tom Paris: Seann William Scott or Ryan Reynolds.

B'ellana Torres: Halle Berry

Harry Kim: John Cho is my first pick, but he's 40 now...too old to be Harry. Randall Park is my second, but also a little too old. Maybe either one of them could get away with it if it were like 5 years ago.

Seven of Nine: Stephanie March for 7. Strong, fierce, blonde. She wouldn't be as "sexy" in a catsuit, but I think she could play a Human/Borg trying to regain her humanity no problem.

Tuvok: Lee Thompson Young

Neelix: Jack Black. LOL

Kes: Dakota Fanning

The Doctor: Steve Carell, Hugh Laurie, or...just keep Robert Picardo.

I work at a Korean company and trust me, Margaret Cho wasn't lying when she said "Azz don't age!" But yeah he does look good for 40. I had a little crush on him when I first saw Harold and Kumar when I was younger. Another reason he could play Harry Kim...he's already played a Harold! Just kidding.

And yes...nobody could really successfully recast Robert Picardo. He's the Doc for life.

Just the thought of other actors then the original ones makes me wanna throw up.

It would never be the same as it was, just a lousy copy. In fact, I hate remakes.

I'd rather go for an animated Voyager series instead.

Voyager's already a lousy copy of TNG.

I would keep Mulgrew, Russ, Picardo, Ryan, Lien. Philips maybe, because he did the best he could with his character's writing. The rest are in dire need of recasting. Paris needs a believable bad boy, Torres needs somebody capable of delivering attitude, Chakotay and Kim need actors who don't seem like they've got bit parks in a high school play.

Ha! Except he already plays Sulu. I guess there's nothing stopping him from doing the Combs/Hertzler/Armstrong thing and playing more than one Trek character.

On another note, do we really know that Harry's full name is Harold? I don't think they ever say what Harry is short for on the show. It could be Harrison. Maybe his parents are huge Beatles fans.

I like that, actually. From now on, his name is Harrison Kim in my own personal headcanon.

According to Memoryalpha his name is Harry S. L. Kim. Harry is a rising name for babies these days, probably the prince has something to do with that, and they are not being named Harold. Harold is pretty awful.
