Real-world job in Star Trek

So what is your real-life job and what do you consider to be the closest starship-based job?

I'm a newspaper sub-editor (copy editor for our American friends) so I suppose if I were aboard a starship, I'd be the officer responsible for transmitting the ship's logs and mission status back to Starfleet Command — and making sure the crew were kept up-to-date with new fleet policy.

I guess I'd be yellow-shirted.

I work in an academic support role, which, like many things, covers a number of areas, and I feel like in a way it covers Yellow and Red: Yellow for programing and events, Red for admin, coordination, and management. If I had to imagine, I suppose ship and personnel operations, with an eventual career track pointing to command.

So, I'm probably more of a yellow, but I'll go for red one day. Just like Worf! (yes, I know he started in red, but you get the point)

I'm a translator/linguist, so that would put me in science or comms depending on the era (AFAIK Uhura spoke Klingon at least once).

At least that way for sure I won't get put into something grey with three primary colors running horizontally around the top. I'd have to phaser myself if I had to wear that.
