Spoilers Reading SCE/Corp of Engineers

A few years ago, I read the first 3 or 4 SCE paperbacks, and I while I enjoyed them I just ended up getting sidetracked by other things and never went back. Earlier this year I decided to give the series another go, and I'm just finished the second one earlier today, and thought it might be nice to start thread to discuss it.

The Belly of the Beast by Dean Wesley Smith
I actually read the first novella back in January, so my memory of it isn't crystal clear, but I do remember that I enjoyed it. It was a nice introduction to the characters, and the stuff on the Beast was interesting.

Fatal Error by Keith R.A. DeCandido (@KRAD)
I just finished this one and I really enjoyed it. The stuff with the Eerlikka and Ganitriul was pretty good, since this is only a novella we aren't able to get a ton of depth on them, but what we do get is pretty good. I thought the big reveal that Undlar was a bad guy was a surprise after the way he was introduced. I really liked 110's storyline here, and I look forward to seeing where it goes from.

The one big standout thing in both novellas, which I remember from when I read these before, is the great cast. The stories being novellas obviously means that the individual stories can't give us a ton of development in the individual books, but there was enough spread across the first two to really make me start to like these characters.
One advantage the length does have is that it really makes this series feel the most like another TV series of any of the original novel series.

I really enjoy reading the SCE books and their collection of stories.I got a few of the books from the used book store.I really like the Nog story working with the SCE crew getting the engine core from Empok nor and getting it to replace the one ds9 had to jettison in one of the other ds9 relaunch books to save the station.
