Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

My mom and I had a weird incident a few weeks back. Before I get to the story you need to know that right before you get to our street there's another turn that takes you onto the other side of our block that's right before out street. So on this trip we were heading up the street, and suddenly we were at our street, we never passed the street before ours, and even the she had not been driving long enough to gotten to our street from the last point we were at before we got to our street. She never changed or anything like that, we just suddenly jumped from back down the street to right in front our street, but the whole thing left us both confused and disoriented that she had to drive all the way up to the next intersection then go into a store parking lot to do a you turn. We're not usually ones to really believe in this kind of thing, but it seriously felt like time itself just skipped forward, or like aliens or someone took us and returned at the wrong place. As far as we know we were didn't lose consciousness, and I don't think there's really any way we could have both lost consciousness and then woken up at the exact same second. I've even more less timed how long it takes to get from the last point I remember being at to our street, and there is no logical way we should have gotten to our street as quickly as we did. We're still really freaked out and confused by the whole thing.

Yeah, we have joked a few times about it being a glitch in The Matrix, or that maybe aliens or time travelers took us and their aim was off when the put us back.

After watching the Long Walk, I really do miss the banter we used to see in a lot of films. It's mostly gone, and I don't what happened to it.
What happened to it is that producers and writers thought audiences today don't need this anymore / and or will get bored too easily if there is too much banter so it gets dumped for expediency most of the time.

That's why I'll keep watching older stuff with content that I do miss.

This fits with what I'm watching when I do go back. The exception being when I get an itch for a much older film that Criterion puts out.

Now, I'm going go watch First Blood Part 2 as it hit AMC+.

I'm watching Chain Reaction, which takes place in Chicago, and then I notice a paddy wagon. I have never seen those outside of Chicago, and I've lived throughout the country. Now, I'm wondering why.

They were around in California and Texas back in the '70s. I think most police agencies use regular vans these days.

Interesting. Haven't seen one like that in the Houston area. But then, I'm not generally around places that require their presence.

Looks like they just converted old ambulances.
