Emotions, eeeewww icky emotions... I didn't know I could feel so many all at the same time
My Mom is closing in on 90 years and I know it can happen any day but knowing she has lived a full life won't make it any easier when that day comes.
My condolences and the only thing I can suggest is to remember the good times like I did when Dad passed.
That's what I did when my own dad passed. It's been a long day and I'm over everyone hanging around
I fully understand that, my attitude was OK get the fuck out and let me be for awhile to process, we can laugh about the old times later. Relatives can be more hurt than help during those times.

The weirdest thing just happened. I eas taking my mug into the kitchen and something caught the corner of my eye and the mug slipped out of my hand onto the floor. I felt chills.

No, not necessarily. One, you set a boundary that requires respecting, and two you learned what you didn't want in a therapist. I don't mind being fired if my client is asserting their right to self-determination, and isn't a danger to self, others, etc.
