Quentin Tarantino Talks Trek

An idea. Paris has a bit of a new twist added to his character. Tarantino shows proper obeisance to Tom's love for American 20th century cultural arcana, in this case the muscle cars of the 60's and 70's. But in this presentation, he creates an appropriately detailed holoprogram modeled along the lines of Death Proof, which he can't resist running as often as possible.

SLJ in Star Trek? Why not? He was in Star Wars. If JJ can go from trek to wars, SLJ can go from wars to trek.

Oh yeah, that would be cool. JJTrek erased itself and Cpt. Stupido and his friends ... end their mission too.

I like neither very much but for that I would go to the movies. :D

Randomly came across this today. Reminded me of this thread. Actually looks pretty cool.

Don't know if this has already been posted but Tarantino was on The Nerdist podcast recently. When asked if he would make a Star Wars movie, he said he'd be more interested in making a Star Trek film.

He's goes on to say he liked the 2009 Trek, but Into Darkness not so much.

Also talked about Trek movie ideas and discussed Yesterday's Enterprise.

Pretty interesting stuff IMO.

He starts talking about Trek around the 01:09:40 mark: http://nerdist.com/nerdist-podcast-quentin-tarantino/

Do you have any idea how many kittens I just had reading this?

Hard to imagine a Trek movie with that many f-bombs. :rommie:

"Does he look like a Borg? Does he look like a Borg!?"

"And you will know the line must be drawn here, this far and no further! And I will make them pay for what they've done!!!"

"Data, you ok?"
"No, I am pretty f***ing far from "ok", Captain."

Great film maker, but after see multiple interviews, apparently he's never learned how to personally form a sentence.

Tarantino would have fun with the characters that's for sure. His Trek movie would be more dialog heavy than what we've seen in the previous Kelvinverse films.

Which would be a good thing I feel. Clearly he'd have to tame things a lot, but his story telling style would be very interesting in the trek universe. We've seen non linear done in the episodes before, but never with the sort of skill he shows in Pulp Fiction. Scale that up to a movie and that would be a bold move!

To be fair, neither have the Tamarians. Since Tarantino loves his metaphors, we may have just found the perfect population to star in his movie!

The movie opens with the quote "Revenge is a dish best served cold."

After a moment, an attribution appears onscreen: "-Ancient Klingon Proverb."
Sadly:

"...in 2004, Tarantino showed a combined version of the film at the Cannes Film Festival that became known as Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair." ... "Right off the bat, there’s a major change as the Klingon proverb has been replaced by a dedication to filmmaker Kinji Fukasaku."

There's a good chance the Klingon Proverb will remain omitted if Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is ever released for sale.

I agree. Also from a marketing perspective, I don't see how you could lose.

It's a pipe dream though. It will never happen. It's a damn shame too, because Star Trek needs a true filmmaker with a vision that can save us from these mediocre movies and turn the franchise around.

Samuel L. Jackson would've made a great Klingon.

Quentin has a fondness for bringing back stars from the 70's...including using
Michael Parks, Robert Forster and Pam Grier to name a few.

I think Quentin would jump at the chance to direct William Shatner in anything...but
wouldn't a Mirror Universe "Star Trek" be remarkable with Bill acting and Quentin directing.

Other than the Kill Bill "revenge" reference (kudos to Joel Kirk for FIRST pointing that out), Tarantino "punched up" the script to Crimson Tide, adding among other things the references to Star Trek, Scotty and Captain Kirk when Denzel Washington's character gives the pep talk to the tech guy tasked with fixing the sub's communication system.
