Okay, this is strictly for those old-school diehards who didn't like the new film and more or less wish it never existed.
Were there any changes you liked? For example, one of my friends who i went with was a HUGE TNG fan. He didn't hate the movie, he thought it was fun entertainment. But he didn't like it as Star Trek, and he really didn't like the idea of this being the primary canon that new material is produced for.
However, he admitted that he thought the new phaser design, with the manual switch between stun and kill and corresponding change in beam color, made perfect sense and was something he'd like to see tried out in even in the original timeline.
Were there any moments or details like that for you? Things that, even among all the whiz-bang stuff you didn't like, you thought were a cool idea?
