Production Quality Of Picard

You need another round in the time loop... here we go:

So where am I assigning "the maximum possible negative value", instead of explicitly pointing out that this is not the case?

You say that, and yet you use a word that inherently carries the maximum possible negative value. You're contradicting yourself.

as i tried to explain before, the point is that there are degrees in between and it's not purely black or white, and in that gray area, the shows don't occupy the same position. we are arguing that PIC is closer to dystopia than the others. closer doesn't mean 100%. just like the others were never 0%. why are grays on a linear scale such a difficult concept?

less utopia = more dystopia =/= total dystopia.

More in the new thread - thanks for opening that so we can leave this one to its original topic XD

I had a thought. If people call Picard Season 1 dystopia, I'm looking forward to the Discovery Season 3 threads.

It's gonna be fun. I've got some good stuff prepared.

I have no idea how people can say Picard felt like a dystopia. Earth still looked like a paradise, other than that, we only saw worlds outside of Federation space, we already know from TNG and DS9 they can be Mad Max bad - what we saw in Picard was really tame compared to TNG.

Because they don't actually mean it. It's a meaningless term thrown around because...

it was a dark show. Everyone getting drunk.damaged people. 7 of 9 murdering an unarmed person in cold blood. Picard letting her take weapons to carry out the murder. The blonde scientist murdering her boyfriend because of his hubris. Lol. Yeah what a paradise and evolved humans.

Yeah, but other than all that, you absolutely loved the show. And don’t try to deny it, because I won’t believe you.

Try to be a sport. The thread's died down. Game's over.

There's nothing I can add that I haven't already said. The same with other people. We're now at the point of going around in circles and no one's going to change each other's minds. It's done. There's interesting debate and then there's tedium. We're at tedium now.

More the question is where in Picard is the leaning towards dystopia on our imaginary utopia/dystopia spectrum than before?

One thing is certain--basically most of the characters we meet are not all that happy. Will and Deanna complain of a family tragedy that they tie to the Synth ban. Rios is not happy. Raffi is a mess. Agnes is mess. Maddox was something of a mess. Seven is cynical and hardened.

People seem to be getting to sick regularly again -Picard, the Riker's son, Raffi-- illness and mental illness in general seems to be back.

Data wasn't in great shape. B4 didnt work out. There was a tragedy on Mars that killed up to 100,000 and Mars is still burning I think?

Starfleet seems bitter. The Federation doesn't really want to help the Romulans.

So the show seems to be suggesting that the Federation is flirting with widespread xenophobia. And basically a number of problems going on in the Federation.

And possibly - suggesting that humans are back to working for money, and that there are wealth gaps and class differences . Maybe Picard is ret-conning the money thing and deciding that people do work for money - or maybe not, i's just curious to see.

I'm just going on mostly what Steward himself said about the show before it came out. He's mentioned the current political climate and social situations.

But this also based on some stray observations too.
