My memory of VGR is pretty vague, but I recall that there were some...and that ENT did at least one of them yet again.

Ok. I do know that ENT had an episode that was basically the same as an episode of DS9, where a group of aliens come to find out that they’re all actually holograms. And Rene Auberjonois was in it to boot!

Exactly. The only reason why VOY was "pretty close" to TNG was because UPN didn't want the show to be anything more than episodic, which was completely the opposite of the original premise of the show. Almost every episode of VOY could have been done as a TNG episode without any difference whatsoever.

voyager was actually done really well. It was episodic but it had its arcs and threads running through the show.
