Prodigy = Starfleet Academy?

Almost everything that the producers were planning on doing with a SF Academy series could be done on Prodigy:

Take a bunch of completely green recruits (like say, escapees from a slave colony), put them on a starship, and give them Starfleet training.

It might not be anywhere near as clean and polished as a series in San Francisco, but it's certainly much more interesting (to me, at least).

Mind = blown

I would prefer a live action Academy series.

If you animate the series and set it in that time frame, lets say 2384 or 2385

- What happens in the late 24th Century -
2377 - USS Voyager returns to Earth
2379 - Star Trek: Nemesis - AKA Shinzon's Coup d'état against the Romulan Senate & High Council
2380 - Star Trek: Lower Decks S1 - Show Starts
2383 - Star Trek: Prodigy S1 - Show Starts
2385 - Star Trek: Picard S1 - Synth Attack on Mars
2387 - Star Trek (2009) - Romulus is destroyed by the Hobus/Romulan star going SuperNova.
2399 - Star Trek: Picard S1 - Show Starts

You can have many of the older Star Trek Alumni reprise their roles.

Too many of the TNG/DS9/VOY alumni are too old to portray their younger selves in live action.

But to voice their characters using the same animation quality as Star Trek: Prodigy, that's do-able.

Given the emphasis on the re-opening of Starfleet Academy in the first episode of DSC S4, I think once the SA show does happen it will be in the 32nd century. Which is now the "present" in Trek.
They have multiple eras to chose from. The emphasis doesn't mean the show would be set there. I would find that extremely odd.

How about a semi-anthology format bouncing around to various eras, with occasional intergenerational tie-ins? Any time from 2161 to 3190 is fair game.
