Prince Henry's Wedding

I was watching the wedding and wondering what it was like for Elizabeth to be standing there, while everyone around is singing "God Save the Queen." She just had this "Oh, for fuck's sake..." look on her face. But then, at her age, she probably does most of the time.
I remember when London hosted the Olympics. They were doing the opening ceremony, when at one point the camera showed the Queen picking her fingernails.

Yeah, I think you might be right.

So only black people would like that speech, and white believers wouldn't?

All righty, whatever.

Which one of my posts stated white people would not like the speech?

Well I'm an idiot, lol. I never knew Henry and Harry are the same name!

Do you know about James and Jim, Robert and Bob, Richard and Dick, Charles and Charlie?

Same thing my dear. The mans name is Henry. George VII was called Bertie. His name was Albert.
George was a monarch name, some British kings choose a different name when they ascend the throne, Edwards VIII real name was David. The present monarch chose to keep her own name. It is alleged Prince Charles will use a different name when he becomes king since the last two King Charles were not very popular. One was beheaded by Parliament, the other had a ton of mistresses.

I hope Meghan knows that James Hewitt is actually Harry's Dad and she didn't marry a royal after all

James Hewitt came on the scene after Harry was born, the dates do not add up, plus he looks just like the Mountbatten-Windsor men, check photos of Prince Charles and Phillip when they were young men.

The red hair. What more do you need?
Princess Ann had red hair, its in the family
The Queen doesn't even get to have her birthday holiday on her birthday over here. HOWEVER, at least we get a holiday!!

No we do not. There is no bank holiday in June in England

Charles mentioned an ancestor who was beheaded. This might be King Charles I, a Stuart. So he doesn't want to use a name of a King who was decapitated..... Superstition?

yep!
Charles I lost his head, Charles II (his son) lost his dick in too many women lol
He might reign as George VII. His maternal grandfather who was named Albert reigned as George VI. I bet Prince William reigns as William III in 20 years or so.

Oh yes of course, I thought Harry was short for Harold? I've never heard Prince Harry referred to as Prince Henry, and just honestly never known those names were the same!

I'm starting to wonder why it didn't occur to the Queen and Philip when they first had Charles...let's give him the same name as a king who got beheaded? or at least a team of advisors and staff who may have advised them on names late in her pregnancy with Charles.

There is also Princess Anne.... Anne Boleyn lost her head, too. There isn't much choice among royal names. It is not likely for a royal child to be called Rumor, Pixie or Django ;)

Black preachers don't do five minutes, but you're not familiar with that aspect of the culture, atheist or not.
It did appear that some of the royals experienced culture shock upon listening and watching the performance of that preacher. A number of the royals weren't able to maintain a stiff upper lip. :p

There was a Queen Anne , probably was thinking of her lol

Is there any proof of that? Or just a rumor put forth by Charles-haters?

Both sides of the family, actually as Diana's brother Charles (currently Earl Spencer) was also a redhead.

Prince Harry was also born around two years before the relationship between Diana and Hewitt was alleged to have taken place (she confirmed a relationship, but AFAIK never commented on the duration).

So the claim doesn't really pass the 'sniff test' to me.

Implies that I wouldn't be familiar with such events because I'm not black. Further implies that unfamiliarity = not liking it.

In this case, you're correct - I didn't like it. But it's due to his over the top performance and the fact that I'm atheist, not the color of his skin. There are white preachers who carry on and on and on and ramble off-topic and don't know when to shut up, too.

Do you know about James and Jim, Robert and Bob, Richard and Dick, Charles and Charlie?
That's rather snarky, and definitely undeserved.

As others have pointed out, others on both sides of the family have red hair.

Your posts are like the really obnoxious ones in Canada, insisting that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is really the son of Fidel Castro just because there's some superficial resemblance.

The right-wingers who keep insisting on this BS choose to be willfully obtuse about the fact that Margaret Trudeau didn't even meet Fidel Castro until Justin was a young child, and both of his younger brothers had already been born as well.

The exQueen Mother was Elizabeth as well
What's with the "ex"? She never stopped being the Queen Mother.

I was watching the wedding and wondering what it was like for Elizabeth to be standing there, while everyone around is singing "God Save the Queen." She just had this "Oh, for fuck's sake..." look on her face. But then, at her age, she probably does most of the time.
After 66 years, she's probably getting used to it... It's just normal protocol, and she probably tunes it out (no pun intended).

What's going to be weird is singing "God Save the King" and seeing somebody else's portrait in public buildings and on the money.

All you need to do is look at the back of their heads. Harry is going bald like his brother and father.

A misunderstanding, timewalker. The ex- refered to Queen, not to mother. Elizabeth, nee Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, was an Ex-Queen (as the widow of King George VI) and Queen-Mother (as the mother of Queen Elizabeth II). Since, unlike her daughter, she never was a ruling monarch but only married to one, she was Queen Elizabeth, too, but without an index in Roman numbers.
Rather puzzling on the whole.
Uncle Rogi presumably just wanted to save time and words by contracting Queen/Ex-Queen/Queen Mom to (Ex)Queen Mother. A faux pas pardonable by the fact that he's no subject of a constitutional monarchy, I'd say. After all, there's usually an amnesty when there's a royal wedding ;)
