Prediction: How many seasons?

A valid comparison. But of course there is always a person going out there way to defend the show to the hilt despite its evident flaws

There's plenty of topics where people talk about their dislike for Discovery. We also have plenty of people who will take every chance they get to post 'DISCO SUX BALLZZZ YO' in every topic they find, even it has NOTHING to do with Discovery. So how about no. How about just give your opinion on how long long SNW will last without bringing in Discovery? What a novel idea that would be.....

In any case... Star Trek is doing pretty good at the moment, especially SNW right now, if the numbers and reviews are to be believed. Personally I feel SNW is the strongest of the current Star Trek shows.
Unfortunately, momentum is key. People are bored with shows fast and hop on new shows really quickly. Thanks to the (very legitimate and necessary) strike, that momentum is dropping. I'm pretty sure we'll get a season 3. However, if interest in Star Trek has lessened by then, it could very well be the last. It all depends on how well Discovery season 5 will be received, and if by than Lower Decks and a potential new show will be out. I know they're working on Starfleet Acadamy to replace Discovery, but I can't recall if that was supposed to drop before season 3 of SNW.

Personally, I think it will last 5 seasons for the very simple reason of a 5 year mission. I can see the producers saying that that will give the final episode a nice book-end and work in talk of James Kirk taking over command and setting up TOS in that regard.

Nonsense. Reviews are positive, it is getting great numbers in viewings. Don't mistake your personal dislike for fact.

My fear is that despite reviews/viewership the overall streaming landscape is contracting (collapsing?) and I am nervous for what this will mean for this show...I don't think it will be the end of Trek or whatever but as actors become more expensive as a show goes on I think it is highly unlikely studios will be willing to keep them going....

I give it at least four seasons. If it doesn't last that long it will be because of outside factors and not the quality of the show itself.

That is a very valid response....
Netflix has gained quite a lot more subscribers since they locked down on password sharing. Disney will do the same next year.
The problem isn't that people dislike streaming, it's the amount of services. If it went back to a handful, and studio's working with Netlfix for example, like they did with Discovery, things would be a lot easier and people would get less annoyed. Here in the Netherlands, Netflix has TOS through ENT, Prime has Picard and Lower Decks, though Lower Decks might move somewhere else. SkyShowtime has SNW, no one streams Discovery or Prodigy and only the Kelvin movies are freely available on either Netflix or Prime at times. Otherwise you need to pay for them on Prime. I think Prime might also have the original 1-10 movies behind a paywall.

Say what you want about Disney.... But they have EVERYTHING Star Wars, with no extra charge, on one service.

Netflix password crackdown was a one-time boost. Streaming is a broken model. They don't have enough content to justify these prices, and the production costs are astronomical on many of them, including every Trek series. You can no longer make that back on syndication.

You mean the syndication the Star Trek shows have on tv? Nothing is set in stone, and who knows if more studios will decide to put OG streaming content on syndication after a while. They're learning, it's a process.

Oh, and a one time boost it may have been.... But it showed many people (literally millions) were willing to pay to continue streaming. This is also an indication that streaming is certainly NOT broken. It needs tweaking.

So you phase out Mount, Navia, Babs, Chong and Rebecca and try to hang on to Peck, Bush and Gooding. Bring in Quinn and Wesley as regulars. Cast new and less expensive actors as Sulu, McCoy and Chekov.

Yes, but given how out of balance reduction costs and revenues seem to be I am wondering if even this is possible.

The shows lose massive of amounts of money. In the old days, you recouped with ads, which nobody wants to watch anymore, or via syndication, which is mostly dead. Meanwhile, these networks are still getting $ from cable subs, but have nothing to put on those networks because again, of streaming exclusivity, perhaps the dumbest concept in all of it.

Could you post the actual information you have that shows the numbers they are loosing on this show? Like, statistics and such?
I don't have time for useless bullshit. I am also 100% the kind of man that will say 'you were right' if you can.
Random YouTube video's don't count. I want the literal EXACT numbers from accountants and the books that the studios have that show what goes out and what comes in terms of money.
I'm really tired of comments without numbers or facts to back it up.
