Predict how TOS Kirk will be Resurrected

I'm in love with this trailer which pitches a story of Kirk returning from the Nexus once more:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJHANrzMSlk

This could be how he returns; there's the Deadly Years idea; the hologram form Trek09; Spock Prime returning home to find Jim still alive or Shatner could play an older version of Pine's Kirk or even Mirror Kirk.

Alternatively, Shatner could play a relative or completely different character all together. Do I want Shat back? Yes, since it was mooted in 2006/07 it is a pity that fell through - a Shatner/Nimoy reunion 50 years later one last time would be grand.

Also the duo are involved in a Star Trek-themed advertising campaign for Germany:

Wow ... it looks like they're really going to do this thing. The Shat's going to be onboard for STAR TREK "3." You know, I was hoping that wouldn't happen, because now the story's going to be limited in its scope, in its size, to accomodate Elder Kirk's derring-do. I was hoping for a really big finish to this trilogy but there's just no time for it, now. I'm almost afraid to find out how they really do bring him back. This time, I'm just going to have to wait til the reviews come in BEFORE I see the next movie. I didn't do that before, but this time I just don't have any confidence in a Shatner STAR TREK movie, this is a bad idea. I hope I'm wrong, but ... I'm getting that old sinking feeling, again.

The only way I would ever want Shatner in this film is if he plays a Kirk ancestor, like Jim's grandfather. That's IT.

So the Shat would then be able to claim "I'm my own grandpa".:D

Yeah, I've been a strong critic of the idea of bringing Kirk Prime back, but even I'd buy the idea of a Shatner cameo if it was Shatner playing Pine!Kirk's grandpappy, Tiberius. :)

Shatner won't be playing TOS Kirk.

Shatner and Nimoy will be playing old Pine and Quinto and will bookend the movie, being called upon to resolve something that the crew faced decades earlier.

That would be the easiest way to have them both in it without any time travel or alternate reality stuff.

1. Magic Blood
2. Time Travel to stop his death
3. Transferring his human essence into an android that looks like Kirk
4. A resurrection stone
5. He never really died in the first place and star fleet faked his death. (We all know sly the federation can be)

6. Transporter malfunction ;)

"Poopdeck Pappy Kirk"... :guffaw:

srsly though, I actually like this idea. If Shatner HAS to be in this film, let him play Tiberius Kirk. It'll give him a chance to be someone else for a change!

I LOVE this idea. Have Shatner play Tiberius, a character seen once on a TOS episode, explored somewhat in novels, but left largely to our imagination. Let Shatner explore a NEW role, moreover have Tiberius be the central BAD GUY of STIII. With decent writing and top notch directing, this could be epic.

And super-fanwanky. I'm ok with that. So long as we are not shoe-horning Captain Kirk into the movie, which would stretch credibility just too far.

^ Well, I wouldn't want Tiberius to be the (or a) bad guy, although I wouldn't half mind him chewing Jim out, like "Why the hell'd you destroy my son's best car?"

Spoke prime could figures out the Enterprise is near the Nexus and devises a way to get Kirk out because we all know his "echo" is still there like Guinan's is.

I don't think it's the same...Kirk didn't leave an echo behind, because he wasn't "pulled...ripped away" from the Nexus like Guinan was (the Enterprise-B's transporter tried to beam her out but it didn't work). Kirk left completely, of his own free will.

If Shatner appears in the next Trek film, his role will be dictated by the strange vanity (ego) of the actor himself... which means he is just as likely to not appear at all.

Also, along with Carrie Fisher, I hope they both will slim/have slimmed/plan to slim down before reprising the roles for which they are famous.

Nobody likes a fatty.

IMO there should be an echo either way.

So now if Guinan dies her echo all of a sudden ceases to exist? Yes Kirk left of his own free will but his echo or a print of him where he was could quite possibly still be there. It probably doesn't matter how you leave, something is left behind.
