Predict how TOS Kirk will be Resurrected

But to address your point - having Nimoy play an older nuSpock would be confusing despite any kind of magical writing, because Prime Spock has been cemented as a (recurring) character in the nuUniverse.

I really don't understand what would be confusing? Audiences weren't confused when Nimoy played Mirror Spock and they weren't confused when other actors played Spock in Star Trek III.

You tend to underestimate people.

And they didn't fell they needed to explain in detail who Spock Prime was in Star Trek Into Darkness.

You aren't getting this. Nimoy IS Prime Spock -- for 50 years now (one episode of TOS in which he plays a variant is irrelevant). He has been presented in the Abrams movies AS Prime Spock. If he is in the next movie, people will naturally assume he IS Prime Spock. It's the cultural memory.

Your perspective is that of a die-hard fan, not the random viewer (who will associate Nimoy with Prime Spock).

It would be moreso with Shatner.

If that isn't clear, I'm not sure how else to say it.

And audiences will be able to wrap their minds around him being an older version of the current Spock (and Shatner with Kirk) with a line or two of dialogue. This isn't nuclear physics and it isn't some unbreakable code that only nerds will be able to decipher.

Or Shatner could end up playing the older version of the Abramsverse Kirk?

*If* Shatner will be in the movie, there's nothing else he'd be able to play but an older Abramsverse Kirk, since as has been pointed out in this very thread title, Prime Kirk is dead. And Abrams isn't going to resurrect Prime Kirk in some hokey way because of some TNG movie from 20 years ago.

And Emperor Tiberius? Really?

If they use Prime James T. Kirk? Here is the reason I think he is alive. Is Spock got a hold of the log of what happen on Veridian III, of Captain Kirk helping Captain Picard in defeating Doctor Tolian Soran, but lost his life in the process.

After he had read the log. He inquire a small star ship went in search of the nexus. When he had found it. He enter, open the hatch and jump out. Then went to Veridian III and help both Captain Kirk and Picard in defeating Dr, Soran. But this time Captain Kirk doesn't get kill.

Is this suppose to be less complex than just saying Shatner is the older version of Abramsverse Kirk?

Yep, he could play Captain James T. Kirk grandfather Tiberius. And he might had been the one that had help prime Spock in finding a new home for the surviving Vulcans. But I didn't know that he was a Emperor?

I think we're all pretty sure that the moviegoing public aren't that dumb, but do the decisionmakers have that confidence in their audience?

There's no way in hell Shatner will be playing anything else other than James T. Kirk.

Trouble is Orci is a new director and it takes a lot of work to get Shatner to play Kirk instead of Shatner.

And yet, as someone before pointed out, when Tom Baker played the museum curator for the last few minutes with Matt Smith, he was basically playing Tom Baker too, and that went just fine. The trick is to simply not let Shatner hog lots of the scenery. If it's just the final scene of the movie and Shatner & Nimoy are just reminiscing, then it will work fine.

I think it's often best to just let Shatner hog what the hell he likes.

'You heard it here.....Denny Crane'.

I don't think it will happen.

If it does happen, I imagine it will be close to the cut scene from 09 where Spock reveals a holographic message he keeps in memoriam.

If it did happen, I'd prefer it were Nexus Kirk, revealing to the audience that prime Kirk became one of those strange new life forms he spent his life seeking out having become one with the unknown.

Epic Shatner monologue to end the film? I'm down. :D

Putting it that way, not featuring Shatner would be a plot hole. If in the Nexus, Kirk became one with reality, no doubt eventually he will become the reality. Worse. He became Q.

My idea from the original post:
Love to see him and Spock show up in a gigantasized Enterprise-A
For the save
We all know old Spock loves to play fast and loose with the rules of time travel
Goes back to Veridian 3 beams Kirk up as he tumbles to his death on the ultra futuristic cast iron and chain link walkway panel
Easy fix
Steals museum enterprise A
Takes into jjverse where it magically grows to 750 meters
Kills some Ahole Klingons
Drop kicks some D bag alien
Poignant nimoy Shatner brotherly love scene
High fives and I go home happy
