*Potential Spoilers* What will the Alternate Enterprise-A look like

FB_IMG_1471939632765.jpg

Saw this on Facebook. What's that big rectangle on the saucer? It looks like someone accidently put the Franklin's bridge window on the Enterprise-A.
Now THAT looks more like the original Enterprise profile. I remember watching the end credits, seeing her fly around and after it cut to the tribute to Anton and Leonard, I thought out loud "They finally made her look more like the TOS Enterprise!"

Yup. :techman: And it only took them oh, about 7 years and 3 movies. And that's only if they don't decide to change her again for the next (?) movie.

I have always thought the concept art for the Church Enterprise looks alot more like the original ship. Think alot of that is the colours of the dish, nacelles as well as the shape of the underside and edge of the saucer (as the final one was more TMP) and the shape of the nacelles having a less extreme bulb shape.

Can't believe no one wants to take on new fan art/drawings of the new "Ent A".

Thanks to Paramounts financials this could be the last "E" we see for a while...... (notice I said could) so come on
you Starfleet ship designers, let's see some Enterprise A fan work!

Before Star Trek 2009, tons of fans were building 3d models of the new Enterprise and Kelvin. After Into Darkness, it seems like fan renderings of any ships screeched to a halt.

There were quite a few takes on the Vengeance, and Vengeance inspired designs.

The reworking of the 09 Enterprise at the end of Into Darkness did not exactly inspire people.

I rather like both of the Enterprises depicted in STB, though. They both got it going on.

There are a few people who have built models or drawn sketches but obviously thats based on Sean's concept art and the few (dark) frames from the end of the film.

I would bet that a few people want to make models of her but are waiting for some decent, clear images to come from Paramount. I am hoping Ben from Eaglemoss' tease about new things coming from the NY Trek convention will be the unveiling of their Beyond specials including the new Enterprise.

Yeah - I'd have to agree: although we see the A in Beyond, we're still rather reliant on clearer pics to establish exactly what she looks like.

Once more or clearer pics emerge, I suspect the floodgates of fan-art will spill forth!

She may not even be called the Enterprise-A, IMO. Regardless if she is a new design or not, she might just keep the original basic NCC-1701 registry or have an all-new registry, breaking away from what was done in "that other reality" and forging a different direction for future Enterprises in this one.

That's a great point and one I've kicked around. At some point, the current cast is going to refuse to come back for another movie. At that point, either the Kelvin timeline goes away or it continues to evolve in its own way. The first question to be asked is, do we explore a Kelvin timeline TNG once this cast is done or do we assume that none of that transpires because of the events of Kelvin? Depending on how they (studio) answer that question, might give us a clue to what they will do with future Enterprises.

Because this is an entirely new timeline, I could - though would be sad to see - a new ship and a new take altogether as the Kelvin timeline prepares to go a completely different direction from the original timeline. They are free to do their own thing here, and I'm guessing they will. Nothing that they build up in these movies has to be building blocks to a TNG crew, because that possibly no longer exists.

Can you imagine the hissy fit the purists would have if they had.

Why not the USS Enterprise NCC 1701.1

I would not have minded to be honest.

I wouldn't have minded if it had still been simply NCC-1701 again
Yes. I wish they recovered enough of the saucer section to attach the new star-drive section to, then heavily repaired/refitted it so the new ship was still 1701. I don't think NuTrek will ever go beyond a couple more films, so there's really no need to bring in the A or any other future Enterprise.
