Post a Random Fact About Yourself

Not only have I seen both "Casablanca" and "Gone With The Wind", I've watched them on the big screen. In fact, for the latter movie I deliberately waited several decades until I could catch a Fathom Events showing at a local theater — rather than just watching it on TV. It makes quite a difference in your viewing experience ... could even affect whether you consider it a classic.

I'm a film fanatic (nutcase) and took a few film classes in college, so I've seen ALL those movies and then some.

I don't snore...I purr with the force of 10,000 kittens. :p

(actually my college roommate once recorded what was supposedly me snoring. I dispute this. I'm convinced he'd somehow gotten hold of a recording of a tank brigade.)

When I was a kid I enjoyed both ceramics and Star Trek. And that led me to attempt making phasers out of solid clay, the kind you kiln bake with glaze on it.

The more "primitive" looking hand phaser (above, with the type II phaser) was once accidentally left at a friend's house. His mother thought it was a door to a clay house.

I have practically not seen any of the American classics like "Casablanca", although I know most of them by reputation and I can discuss most of them... I have sort of a Cliffnotes kind of knowledge of them. I also know Cliffnotes by reputation only as we have no such thing in France...

You don't? Then how did you cheat in school?

I've always been an introvert, and as I get older, I realize there are very few people in the world I want to spend time with.

Even when there's a holiday or family celebration, I'd rather just be in my room. Most of the conversation topics don't interest me at all; e.g., sports, my sister's succulents, people that I don't really know, work problems.

And some friends or coworkers must think I'm their personal psychotherapist when they call or text to vent about trivial work issues, etc. It's as if by instinct people unload their problems on me.

On the other hand, I can be outgoing in terms of doing things I enjoy, even when I'm alone. Before the pandemic I've gone to night clubs, movies, road trips, vacations, and a solo cruise, and have enjoyed meeting new people along the way.
