(Possible Spoiler) Clip#3 'I Allow It': Kirk and Harrison.

Re: (Possible Spolier) Clip#3 'I Allow It': Kirk and Harrison.

Taking the 'setup' material from the IDW comic, the new video game and Countdown to Darkness into account, I've (got no spoilers, I'm just guessing) got the terrible feeling that the 72 'reasons' Harrison is referring to is 72 double agents. 72 members of Section 31 among the Enterprise crew, or whatever the outfit is called that Harrison belonged to.

And even worse? One of those 72 is sitting at the Enterprise's helm.

:wtf:

Um, no. Not even close.

Whew. Thank goodness for that. :)

So far, I've managed to avoid the spoilers. For once ignorance really is bliss.

Watching this clip, I felt Pine's seething rage towards Cumberbatch. It jumped off the screen at me..his tone actually caught my attention as I was not looking at the screen when he confronted Harrison.

I have seen Pine in other roles/movies and must say I have never seen him do the seething rage thing before.

For me the scene worked. Everyone has different tastes, which is fine, but the comment on his being crossed eyed is a low blow. He is not perfect..has flaws just like everyone else and honestly I just think it is a bit on the rude side to mention his or anyone else's perceived physical flaws.

Star Trek is about acceptance of all...no matter their appearance. When I come on here to read through the comments posted about the various topics on the board with regards to the new movie (or anything Trek for that matter), I don't expect to see one or two sentence posts criticizing Pine's or anyone else's physical appearance .
Before Before you say it, I'm not being overly sensitive, but I do find it somewhat ironic that there are many people that come on here to rant and rave over how J.J. Abrams ruined Trek, yet they say nothing when one of Trek's main messages is trampled.

Can anyone say IDIC...

It would've been awesome if Kirk had said, "...because I am allowing it, so SHUT THE F**K up."

Trek's first F-bomb would've been epic right there, the passion and drama behind it would've knocked me on my behind.

Though it didn't come from a character, technically Trek's first f-bomb was in the last movie in the lyrics to the Beastie Boys' Sabotage.

I could imagine that they probably sincerely wanted to. Alas, if Argo taught us anything, it's that dropping the F-bomb gets you an R rating in the US, which wouldn't be good for ticket sales.

That would have been awesome :techman:

I watched the clip finally and it was good. I really liked Pine's take on seething rage. And Ben is always good so no need to comment.

Pine is bringing strong emotion to the scene, but scenes with great dialogue with the villain like these make me nostalgic for Shatner's Kirk - he had an intensity when confronting villains in dialogue - like when he confronted Kodos the Executioner, that was so intense... it would be perfect for a scene like this!

....

I wonder if it'll be in the bonuses when it come out on DVD/Blue Ray, as an alternate scene?

An R rated extended edition? that would be pretty awesome.

Even just the one? Valkyrie got away with it.

If it's just one, it can usually keep its PG-13 rating. It's more likely (pure speculation on my part) that the studio didn't want to cross that particular line with Trek just yet. Besides, they're keeping that in reserve for the Tarantino reboot in 2020.

Re: (Possible Spolier) Clip#3 'I Allow It': Kirk and Harrison.

The existence of a ship like Vengeance isn't going to be a satisfactory justification to Kirk for what Cumberbatch's character has done, so I doubt that's what the coordinates pertain to.

Maybe that's where Phaedus is.
