(Possible Spoiler) Clip#3 'I Allow It': Kirk and Harrison.

Re: (Possible Spolier) Clip#3 'I Allow It': Kirk and Harrison.

Dirty silverware stored next to clean!

I have dreamed of this moment, Kirk, for 25 yearrrrrrrrssssss...

Re: (Possible Spolier) Clip#3 'I Allow It': Kirk and Harrison.

So how do the Klingons figure into all of this???

-Chris

And what exactly is at the coordinates that Khan gave? The wreckage of the Botany Bay?

Or it could be the base of operations for the Starship Vengeance, or both!

I was thinking it had to do with that new ship, maybe it is a construction yard or a base. Why would the Federation be working with the Klingons at this point? Also, I wonder if we will find out what Starfleet was doing in the laurentian system, mentioned in Trek 2009.

Re: (Possible Spolier) Clip#3 'I Allow It': Kirk and Harrison.

Cumberbatch owns this.

What's happening in it? I'm on errands and can't see it..

It's Kirk coming to the brig where Harrison is, and Kirk is pissed.

Harrison is just completely cool and calm in the face of Kirk being close to throwing him out an airlock, and Cumberbatch just oozes coolness in the whole scene. Really nicely done.

Re: (Possible Spolier) Clip#3 'I Allow It': Kirk and Harrison.

Both actors do a great job in this clip. The reason why Cumberbath's performance is dominating Pine's is because that's exactly what the scene needs. Harrison is calm, collected and utterly cold, while Kirk is steely-eyed and boiling just below the surface.

So it's just.... talking, huh?

:p

I agree. It is really well done, with the contrast showing between them very clearly.

I wouldn't at all use this scene as some kind of yardstick for acting ability (as some folks are), because this is just a minute of footage.

For example, in the last trailer, Kirk turning to the bridge crew and saying, "I'm sorry" in an almost defeated and guilty tone is really nicely done and really for that moment.

Re: (Possible Spolier) Clip#3 'I Allow It': Kirk and Harrison.

The existence of a ship like Vengeance isn't going to be a satisfactory justification to Kirk for what Cumberbatch's character has done, so I doubt that's what the coordinates pertain to.

Re: (Possible Spolier) Clip#3 'I Allow It': Kirk and Harrison.

Cumberbatch makes Pine look like a high school drama club washout.

I didn't think so. I thought Pine was rather good in that clip. I think he is a fine actor. I think he is holing his own against Cumberbatch

I thought Pine looked constipated in the scene and this is from someone who liked his portrayal of Kirk in Star Trek 2009.

Re: (Possible Spolier) Clip#3 'I Allow It': Kirk and Harrison.

I suppose technically....

... he should have said "I can give you 71 reasons." But I suppose he was counting himself as well.

Re: (Possible Spolier) Clip#3 'I Allow It': Kirk and Harrison.

If Kirk doesn't follow up Harrison's last remark of the clip with, "What seventy-two reasons are on my ship?" I'll throw popcorn at the screen.

He does look awkward, but just close enough to genuine, seething rage to make the scene work. Cumberbatch owns it though, he's going to be reason enough to see this movie.

Brilliant clip, the best one yet. I love the contrast between Kirk's righteous rage and Harrison's cold serenity. Both actors did a terrific job in this.

Re: (Possible Spolier) Clip#3 'I Allow It': Kirk and Harrison.

Taking the 'setup' material from the IDW comic, the new video game and Countdown to Darkness into account, I've (got no spoilers, I'm just guessing) got the terrible feeling that the 72 'reasons' Harrison is referring to is 72 double agents. 72 members of Section 31 among the Enterprise crew, or whatever the outfit is called that Harrison belonged to.

And even worse? One of those 72 is sitting at the Enterprise's helm.

Nope.
