Poor Rebecca Mader...

MadBaggins

Captain
Captain
It is obvious Charlotte is being set-up to fail as a character. Firstly, there is always a predjudice against strong female characters. Look at Ana Lucia! Okay, the fact that Michelle Rodreguiz couldn't act her way out of a DUI charge added to the hate for Ana Lucia. But Rebecca Mader actually seems to be a decent actress and a nice person. It's a shame her character won't surive the season and it's not her fault, it's the writing.

Miles is very sarcastic and witty and can see ghosts, which makes him instantly interesting. Daniel is a Rainman type quirky guy who's all nice and cuddly, so he's instantly liked. What's Charlotte done? Lied to everyone, encouraged Daniel not to tell Jack what's going on (annoying the viewers in the process) and hit other women in the head! Okay, Kate is annoying, but there was no reason to bash her in the head like that. Then later she tried to cave Juliet's skull in with an iron bar! It's all well and good saying "see, I'm good really!" afterwards, but she still did it! Viewers will remember that and won't like it.

I think she will obviously be killed off in the second half of the series, possibly episode nine. The writers can say "oh, we knew Charlotte wasn't popular was we were just reacting to what the fans want!" When of course it's their fault for doing such a poor job writing her character.

I expect her to be killed off pretty soon. Dan and Miles will be kept around longer because they're fun characters to write. Lapidus will be kept around long enough to be the pilot of the doppleganger Flight 815 and deliberately crash it into the ocean. ;)

I'm surprised that people don't like her. She's still my favorite of the four of them. I would hardly call Miles interesting...more like boring and annoying, much the same way I feel about Sawyer. His trying to bribe Ben only made his character seem more boring. We don't know much about the pilot yet, so I don't have an opinion on him. I do like Faraday, and he's quickly becoming my favorite next to Charlotte.

Charlotte I find the most interesting because we don't yet really understand her motives for being there. The fact that she's an archaeologist is a major bonus that makes her character really intriguing. I am most looking forward to learning about why she seems to be researching Dharma and what her motivations are. I can't really say that about the other three. I certainly hope that Charlotte doesn't die soon! I hope Miles does.

If you ask Lost fans to name their four least favorite characters they will probably say Kate, Shannon, Ana Lucia and Nikki. Three of them have been killed off. The only reason Kate hasn't is becasue they need a "female lead". I think the producers made a huge mistake introducing Charlotte the way they did (hitting people in the head), given how prejudice tv viewers generally are against female characters. Maybe they just can't write for women? Sunn and Claire hardly feature and even Juliet was nearly ruined by the latest episode.

Every one of the freighter people has bulls-eyes painted on the back of them. Heck, it wouldn't surprise me if Locke swims out with a bundle of C4 to blow the whole thing up.

Not I. I like Kate, was one of the few who liked Ana Lucia and Shannon and thought Nikki deserved a chance to prove herself. Same goes for Charlotte as far as I'm concerned. We don't know a damn thing about her other than her fascination with Tunisian polar bears and she's kind of duplicitous. By that logic fans should be screaming for Ben to be written off. He's crazy duplicitous.

Rebecca Mader's likable and so is her character from what I've seen. I don't think there's really any grounds to call for her death yet.

Charlotte was intriguing at her first appearance but has waned since then. I want to find out why she was investigating Dharma bears, but I agree she has been a little underwhelming since then.

I love Daniel; great character and great acting. I love Frank; the actor is just so charming and charismatic. Miles is another intriguing mystery for the ghostbusting and who's side he's really on.

I would rank them Daniel > Frank > Miles > Charlotte

Oh yeah as for Kate... I hate Kate but my GF truly despises her. I liked her at the beginning of the show when I thought she was a secret agent or something, but once we found out her mundane history I lost all interest.

Charolette (Rebecca Mader) is hot.

She dayum-well better stick around for a long while until I've had my fill of her great ass, awesome accent, and red hair.

Wait, we're supposed to be upset about Charlotte hitting Kate?

She doesn't bother me too much; neither of the Boaties do. Faraday is far and away my favorite of the four, though.

I like Charlotte. They need to have her do something, rather than just be mean or deceptive, though.

I have no opinion on Charlotte because it seems that all the other new boaties are so much more interesting, and so far she has just been displaying the worst aspects of Lost. What I mean by that is, Lost is at its lamest when it's yet another trek through the jungle to catch up with someone, well they did that for her. Lost is also being cliched for Lost when it won't let you know what is happening in certain ways like the head hitting. That was also her. Also, hostages, yawn, we've seen that on Lost. At least when the Ghostbuster was a hostage he got to Ben and there was the whole grenade part...that was interesting.

The other new guys have just been more interesting. The bears discovery was 2 seconds of interesting and then all she does is Lost Stuff that we've seen others do before. She seems quite interchangable and bland. You certainly can't say that about the other new guys.

And Kate's tolerable. I'm sick of the back and forth with Sawyer and Jack but I really couldn't stand Shannon, Ana Lucia or Nikki in any way whatsoever.

Agreed. I vote we keep Faraday and maybe Miles. Off everyone else.

I dunno, I haven't really enjoyed her character since Season 1 for the most part. Of course, I'm starting to get frustrated with Locke as well given how easily Ben seems to continually manipulate him.

Ditto on Ana Lucia especially. Shannon probably could have evolved into an interesting character eventually but Ana was really beyond redemption from the get go. Nikki I could tolerate, but mostly because she's a knockout. ;)

Shannon could've been an interesting character if they tried. Boone's death was intended to add to her character and take her in a new direction, but the writers went nowhere and ultimately pulled a David E. Kelley on her.

They could have done something with Shannon. But Kate has been annoying from the start, Ana-Lucia and Nikki were never interesting (tho if they'd gone somewhere with Jack, Sayid and AL teaming up to create an "army," she might have had some use.) Charlotte doesn't interest me either. Libby might have had potential. Claire is fairly useless. Sun and Juliet are the only decent female characters they've come up with so far. The writers don't handle female characters well so they kill them off instead.

Agreed again. I was pretty disappointed after they showed that Libby had been in the institution with Hurley and had been watching him. Not to mention she gave Desmond his boat which ultimately landed Desmond on the island for which I believe Widmore is directly responsible.

Claire is fairly useless.

She won't be once Christian reveals himself to her and Jack both and they realize that they are brother and sister. ;) Course, then she'll end up dying cause it'll be dramatic and Jack will believe it's his fault which is why he won't go see his nephew Aaron.....it's too painful and reminds him of what happened to claire.

Sun and Juliet are the only decent female characters they've come up with so far.

I know we haven't gotten much of her, but I have enjoyed Rose's character when we've gotten a chance to have her on screen.

Also, Alex and Danielle Rousseau could both be pretty interesting if the writers decided to flush either of them out. Particularly Alex who was raised by Ben among the Others.

That's my point, the writers MUST HAVE KNOWN what would happen after three seasons of mostly failed female characters. Yet they give her nothing! Why not make her twitchy or give her the ability to see ghosts? It's almost like she was being set up to fail.

I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out one of the producers HATES Rebecca Mader for some reason and is trying to ruin her career. :(
