Re: How will Vulcan society rebuild?
While Beverly said the Romulans weren't exactly the same as Vulcans, this could be attributed to whatever made them look different by the TNG era.
Trek'09 takes place well before that, with the Rommies looking Vulcan. (Tho' Chekov said in TOS's Enterprise Incident that even then there was a SLIGHT difference, somehow, between the two races.)
Besides, Beverly made it sound like it wasn't a matter of race, but simply of being compatible. NONE of the Vulcans onboard could help, and I'm pretty sure she hadn't stopped there. Believe she checked the ENTIRE crew.
That was how she found Worf WAS a match.
And again, we have NO idea why the Romulans, including the dying one, no longer looked Vulcan. Maybe they WERE part Klingon. Still, as said, the movie takes place before even the TOS time period. The Romulans then would be FAR closer to Vulcan than Spock would be.
As for Nero being dead, oh, of course there are NO other potential sources of danger.
You don't think some sicko from Andoria might not start getting ideas, for example?
Stop and think about how important the Vulcans have been in the Federation. Now they're reduced to 10,000 in number, and are being isolated as the sole inhabitants of a colony world? No, this wouldn't leave them open to genocidal lunatics, hostage takers, etc, would it?
I also can't agree with you on the number being above 10,000. Spock's wording made it sound like that was the TOTAL number of ALL Vulcans left, not just those who managed to get away that day.
Do agree with you that it's time to start having babies, tho'.
They've got to be fully Vulcan children, however, if the race isn't to become so blended with other races that it simply gets absorbed by the rest of the Federation and fades away.
This does make it appear Spock would be out of the running as a DNA source, if this is cared about at all.
