I'm sure this has been done several times before, but I haven't seen it since I've been on here and it's something I've always REALLY wondered about because I feel very strongly that one version of the Enterprise is the coolest looking spaceship ever filmed and want to see how much of the ST community feels the same way.

So I'm going to post them in the order they would have come in the ST universe, not in how we saw first in reality. I'm also going to skip the "A" and just call it the 1701 Refit since it's the same ship. If having an "A" slapped on the end made the ship way cooler than before......uh I don't really understand why that would be the case, but sorry you can't vote for it.

I'm going to withhold my opinion for now so people won't be influenced to vote for it or because someone hates me as a poster and thinks "I'm not going to vote for that a******'s favorite version";)

I'm only including ones seen in a show or film, not the expanded universe and only Enterprises count.....sorry Voyager, Reliant and Defiant

Happy voting!!!!!!

I don't think anything will ever replace the majestic grace and beauty of the TOS Enterprise. Not the pilot with the bulbous bridge and spikey nacelles, but what was seen in the 3 seasons on TV. The refit Enterprise would come in second for me. Still captured the feel of the TOS Enterprise. After that, IMHO, things just got silly design wise. They just don't have the imagination and inspiration of the original.

I voted for the Enterprise D. Jean-Luc coming to terms with a ship full of families :rommie:.

I'm going to go with the J as seen in "Azati Prime", all jocking aside I think I would have to go with the refit movie version.

Refit Enterprise NCC-1701 from TOS films. :vulcan::bolian:

Ever since that Friday night December 7 1979, when I was a boy watching Star Trek:The Motion Picture in the theater. I immediately fell in love with awesome beauty of the Refit Enterprise NCC-1701.

I went for the Enterprise-D, it's a beautiful design and I was blown away when I first saw it in Encounter at Farpoint.

To be honest I like all the Enterprises.

Enterprise NX-01
Hated it. Didn't even look like a pre-TOS ship

Enterprise NCC-1701 from the reboot films
Hated it. It looks like some fan's wanking idea of "awesome". Plus, it the stardrive and warp nacelles look like that teenager in the news today who is getting ap enis reduction because it's seven inches long when flaccid and ten inches in diameter. If you've seen the picture of it, that's what the stardrive and nacelles look like.

Enterprise NCC-1701 from TOS TV Show
There was never anything particularly striking about the look, but for what it was at the time and in the show, it works.

Refit Enterprise NCC-1701 from TOS films
This used to be my favorite ship.

Enterprise-B
I didn't like it. It was a needlessly modified Excelsior.

Enterprise-C
I likes this predecessor design. Why was this never seen again (that I recall)? We have Excelsior-class ships used all the time in regular use, battles, etc., but this one just vanished. Surely the Federation would have brought everyone they could into the Dominion battles.

Enterprise-D
This became my favorite new design. It's a thi9ng of beauty.

3 warp engine Enterprise-D from "All Good Things"
Enterprise-E
I didn't like it. Again, it looks like another fan's idea of a future version of a modified ship -- throw another nacelle on it and add some weapons.

And though it was not addressed:

Enterprise-F
I hate this proposed design. It looks like a crummy Enterprise-E retrofitting.

Enterprise-J
Just plain ugly. It seems after the D, the Enterprise designs just get worse and worse and worse.

The original 1964 Matt Jefferies NCC-1701 Enterprise is my favorite. It is the version that I immediately associate with Star Trek. My second choice is the TOS movie refit, which is technically still the same ship underneath all of the shiny new parts.

No bloody A, B, C, D or E.

The TMP model, with its pearlescent finish was a virtuoso display of Art Deco. Beautifully lit and detailed, as well. But ... The ENTERPRISE-D was stately and lavishly appointed. It was "Z's" best work, ever in STAR TREK. Very posh - luxurious, by even STAR TREK's standards.

The TOS Enterprise is iconic, but a bit too toy-like for me to take it seriously.
I have trouble telling the later ships apart, as I am not a ship fan as such. What usually grabs my attention are the interiors, e.g. the sunlit interior of the D in GEN, the moody-looking bridge in NEM (and thankfully they had got rid of the timber bow).
The NX-01 is the first ship exterior that really impressed me as sleek and cool but realistic. Just a very impressive and exciting design, plus the colours are pretty. So I voted for that.

Though I've been a Trek fan since I was less than ten, I'm still enamored with the newer classes as if they were new cars coming off the design line...so the E it is for me.

"Best" is an awfully broad term. Best in what way?

In terms of external appearance, I like the design aesthetic of the refit/Enterprise-A and the Enterprise-D. In terms of internal appearance, the NX-01 and the refit/Enterprise-A strike me as the most realistic ... they don't have the cheesy gumball-looking controls of the original, but they're also a lot more practical than the flatscreen controls of the Enterprise-D, which can offer little to no tactile feedback. As a place to live, the Enterprise-D would have the most amenities to offer.

I voted for the refit, but I have to say that I most prefer the A as seen in TUC. That bridge design is, for me, the best of them all.

My first love was the TOS-Refit. That's the ship that got me onto Star Trek as a youth. But these days, for me it's the Enterprise-D. To me, she's the size of what a starship ought to be, and the design lines are still pretty slick, as opposed to the overly aggressive E-E, and pretty consistent, as opposed to the mish-mash that is the JJPrise.

Though, I say that and I like the JJPrise overall. However, it's perhaps because it uses so much of the Refit design anyway, but at the scale and movement of the Galaxy Class. So in a way, the JJPrise is a combination of my two favorite versions of the Enterprise (disappointingly though, not the perfect union I would otherwise hope for. It still needs a few changes here and there to even come close to those two).

It's almost unfair to list the TOS Enterprise because, by nature of the franchise, almost every Starfleet design is a different version of the original. So the TOS-E has the one advantage that no other ship on the list has -- it's influenced everyone else. Even the Defiant, one of the most unique designs in Starfleet, is still based on the TOS-E's primary hull!

With that said, I've said this before but to me the TOS-E looks almost too small and delicate for a 5 year mission into the unknown. However, the way she was depicted on screen, especially in the title sequence, was that she was a speedy thing as well.

Least favorite is the NX-01. Not only is it the upside-down Akiraprise, but it's also contradictory to the design traditions of the show -- it's influenced, again, by the TOS-E, but that's the successor ship! Augh. AGT Enterprise is a close second -- that third nacelle is blasphemy.

The TMP refit version of the Enterprise and/or Enterprise-A has been and always will be my favorite version. Followed by the TOS version, and Enterprise D, and AGT Futureprise D, Enterprise E, NX-01, and finally JJPrise. Not really attached to Enterprises B&C

Well I actually said "You're favorite version" in the poll question itself.

Come on man.....you know a question like this means your favorite. Can we just stick to this and not turn it into "How do the define the adjective you used"

The TNP-TUC version. It takes what was already a brilliant design and shoves the dogs bollocks into it.

Though you know, I think Matt Jeffries' basic idea was so strong that none of them have really failed. The worst I'd say about any of them is the E is a bit dull in comparison to most of the others.
