Plutón BRB Nero: Sci-Fi/Comedy from Spain

Has anyone heard of this Spanish series Plutón BRB Nero? I don't understand Spanish, but from what little I can discern, it has a Red Dwarf feel to it.

That looks cool. Hopefully, a subtitled version wind up online (or R1 DVD).

Are there any other foreign language space-based scifi shows out there? Strangely enough, I've never heard of one.

^^ Lexx was a German/Canadian production

Raumapatrouille was a German space show from the 60's. I downloaded some comedy series but I don't remember the name or language where it was some guy in space with a ship that looked like a house on the inside (didn't help that I couldn't understand any of it).

But as far as non-English language shows I haven't found much if you discount Japanese sentai type programs.

^ Raumpatrouille looks interesting! Anyone know how to track down a copy?

EDIT TO ADD: Not trying to derail your thread, FTP... feel free to slap me if needed.

raumpatrouille@amazon.de

Don't know if you guys have ever ordered anything from the foreign Amazon's but your US login will work there which makes things rather simple even if you don't understand all the words.:)

Not sure how that youtube link has a subtitled copy, I wasn't aware that was available.

Whoops, scratch that I see the 3 DVD version has Englisch Untertitels.:)

Oops. I'd forgotten about Lexx.

Does anyone know Spanish enough to check out and understand an episode or two of PBN? Is it any good?

I'm watching it as I type this on YouTube.

The basic premise is that they've sent these ships out into space because humanity has completely fucked up the world and they're looking for somewhere to resettle the human race. The Captain is completely inept, they have a sexy android with big boobs and a high libido. Good stuff in the first few minutes. :)

I live in Barcelona and have seen this show a couple of times. The director is a very famous ex-cult filmaker called Alex de la Iglesia, who recently filmed The Oxford Crimes with the actor who played Frodo and has another movie in english, from a couple years ago called Perdita Durango, with Javier Bardem. He is very good, and Pluton BRB Nero is worth checking out. Definitely Red Dwarfish. You can watch the episodes online here

I like it, but i think it still needs some work. it appears it has been renewed for a 2nd season, so i believe it will keep improving. The android Lorna is really hot!

Thanks for the review! I'm curious about what you mean by still needing some work. Does some of the humor fall flat?

And yes, Lorna is hot -- she's probably the hottest femdroid since Andrea from the original Trek.

wow, glad you remember that! yes i was, i´m doing my phd in Barcelona now, planning to go back to Argentina in a couple years.

Apparently Pluton BRB has been cancelled, so it will only be 2 seasons :(

ps: about the "needing some work" comment, it just needed to find it´s legs, but it has

The show has already been canceled? That sucks! I don't understand Spanish, but I love the show's production designs, and Lorna is super-hot.

Assuming the show is canceled after two seasons, how many episodes will there be? The web site lists seven episodes so far.
