Please help my wife and I find a series to enjoy together

If you like 24 check out Sleeper Cell, which was a Showtime series about a Muslim FBI agent who had to go undercover in an LA terrorist group. Very tense.

Or watch the British miniseries State of Play with Bill Nighy ane James McAvoy before the Americanized version screws it all up.

For escapist Lost style TV check out Alias.

More grounded drama with an authentic feel would be Friday Night Lights or Tell Me You Love Me.

Good comedy check out Sports Night, Weeds, Californication, 30 Rock or How I Met Your Mother.

Soapy goodness would be Grey's Anatomy or The L-Word.

Or you could just revisit The West Wing which is the king of marathon TV watching.

Just a few to throw out:

Psych is great. However, if you don't like cultural references it is not a show for you.
NCIS is very well done.
Chuck is terrific.
Monk is Monk.
The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. is nice.
Band of Brothers is terrific, but may be too overpowering for a marathon(IMO).

and just to be different:
The Mary Tyler Moore Show is truly timeless.

Spaced, Journeyman and Deadwood are all solid recommendations. I'd also like to throw NewsRadio, Titus, Blackadder and The Prisoner out there.

Someone else mentioned Brothers and Sisters, and I think that show is great. It's in it's third season right now and is often overlooked for some reason. Most people don't seem to know it exists (though it gets pretty good ratings). I am usually not into pure dramas because they get too soapy for me, but this one works well. Plus Sally Field is just awesome in it.

For those that were mentioned:
I love Journeyman, she hated it. I love 30 Rock, she watches it and laughs, then says it sucks....I love, love, love Burn Notice - she mocks it as an 80's redux show the way she mocks Monk and Psych without ever having seen them and finally I adore Sports Night, that may be one she would like.

She lived in London for a couple years and has been mentioning a show called Teachers that she enjoyed back then (2002ish)...it has never been on Netflix so I finally found seasons one and two on torrents. We watch episode 1 of season 1 tonight. I felt I could definitely stick with it, but she says she must not have seen the first season because it is not quite like she remembers.

Great suggestions everyone.

Don't even get me started on trying to pick movies with her. Ooof.

And if you are nice enough to post something and I don't directly mention it, please know that I am looking over these posts and considering everything, thanks.

These are a few of the series me and my girlfriend enjoy(ed):

The Sopranos
Carnivale
Battlestar Galactica
The Office (Steve Carell)
Rescue Me
Nip/Tuck
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
