Please god... give me a decent line!

Out of the modern series - who got the least development?

Was it Harry "shields at 50%!" Kim or that guy off Enterprise.. maysomething?

I'd have to go with Mayweather. Part of this is because the show ended 3 years before the others did. Less time to focus on him as a character.

And the other part being he was a poor actor. Hate to say it cause I really liked the Mayweather character. I don't know though. We knew a good amount about him. Son of a long range freighter captain who spent almost his entire life in space. Very good pilot. We met his parents too right? Toss up between he and Kim.

Uhura! Even in Gamesters she barely says anything!

Beverly could have used some good lines in the later seasons too (other than Suspicions).

I liked Mayweather in the Terra Firma episodes and a couple other times as well, the guy was a decent actor when given the chance. Recently saw an episode of Voyager where Kim was supposed to be so angry at Chakotay that he may hit him, and the actor couldn't make it believable. He couldn't even act angry.

Chakotay - his only 'character' was Native American cultural tokenism. Chakotay episode? dream quest time!
Never advanced one tiny morsel, the same guy in Endgame, line for line, that he was in Caretaker.

The thing about Mayweather I wonder is, did Anthony Montgomery know he wasn't gonna be used that much when he signed on?
Like if B&B had told him from the start "look you're a castmember but you aren't a major charatcer, and a lot of the time you'll just have a couple of lines an episode"

Kind of like say Gaeta in BSG, he gets to play now and again, but most of the time he's just in the background pushing buttons

If Montgomery knew that going in then fine, but I feel a bit sorry if he just went in assuming he was gonna be just an equal part of the action as any of the other castmembers, and eventually kept leafing through the scripts saying "where are my fucking lines?!"

Mayweather had the least development.
And it's a shame, because he is so cute, much more than Trip. :D

Remember, Morn saved the Federation and humanity in "Favor the Bold". Show a little respect, will ya.

Seriously, though. Morn was far better developed than Mayweather. Pathetic, but true. Mayweather got a fair back story in the pilot but never got any more development. Morn, on the other hand, got loads of development. We got to hear about his family, his species, his former friends, his past adventures, his desire for hair, etc...

Try re-watching "The Chute", if you think that. Wang had the same problem a number of other Trek actors had: he could do pretty well with good writing and good direction, but was generally not able to elevate merely mediocre material, which is what he mostly got.

Could be right, it has been awhile since I've seen the rest of Voyager. Now that I think about it though, I remember really liking him in Timeless. So maybe your right.

And what have you got to say about one of my future wives?

While he was never intended to be a major character (I believe that they wanted to return to a Big Three dynamic from the beginning), he definitely was intended to have more of a role (the original plan was for him to become friends with Trip). But they discovered that Dominic Keating had much better chemistry with Connor Trinneer, so they went with that instead (Travis actually did some work with Trip in engineering in the first season, but was gradually replaced with T'Pol).

I also thought he was good in "Timeless".

Given a script and direction like she had on "Facets", for example, she could deliver quite a good performance. Given the sort of mediocre dreck with which she was usually saddled, not so much.

Very nice to look at, though, and tall. I approve of tall. :)

Uhura. Although she's fondly remembered as part of the main cast from TOS, she rarely had anything of significance to do. She had some good moments early in the series, but her part just kept dwindling and dwindling as things went on.
