Indeed. I remember trimming some off so they would fit into the holsters the figures came with. But, I still have some intact. The lightsabre phasers was one of the weirdest design decisions.
Why didn't I ever think of that?or to recreate Timescape
They were. I still tried. I mean, that's what the Star Trek encyclopedia showed the holsters as being forWeren't those holsters meant for the tricorders? At least that's what I did with mine.![]()
Plus, you know, open tricorders in a holster is not how it's done In Canon. Which actually was an issue for me when I was a kid.Besides, the tricorders were often open, not closed, making them very difficult to fit in to the holster.
Even in the original Kenner Star Wars figures, you could at least retract the sabers into the characters' arms! The lightsabre phasers was one of the weirdest design decisions.
And each character had a different color for their accessories. So Tom Paris's phaser was silver-gray with a silver-gray beam!Even in the first wave of figures, Gowron's disruptor didn't have a beam so they were always a bit scattergun. The worst was the Voyager figures where they stopped even bothering to paint the phaser silver and the beam orange, so you had Captain Janeway wielding a bright pink baseball bat.
Yeah, the accessories felt a little more cartoonish as time went on.Even in the first wave of figures, Gowron's disruptor didn't have a beam so they were always a bit scattergun. Yeah I found the best way is not even to pop the head off because I've ended up ripping the neck joint. Here’s a question for the customisers... I’ve attempted the ‘boil and pop’ method of pulling off a figure’s head. That’s the easy part. Trying to replace it seems an impossible task, as the head always seems too big for the hole! Does anyone have any tips? I’m soaking the body and head in boiling water to make them malleable.
I’m desperate to make a Riker figure without rips in his uniform you see...
