Playmates Toys

I had all of the Micro Machines right up until the last mega collectors set that had the limited edition Enterprise E. I had doubles and triples of a lot of them too. They were great for fleet building.

Of course that last set was near impossible to find since I think the line was killed as it was released. And now it goes for at minimum 200 bucks on eBay.

The Generations 3 pack might have been the best one they put out. It came with a Bird of Prey with moveable wings. The Enterprise B. And an Enterprise D that could separate the saucer.

Right, the separable D! It annoyed me as a kid that it wouldn't stay nicely together, but I rammed the saucer into our backyard garden grass/soil a few times XD

I think the BOP with moving wings was the Bounty, which is one of the hardest to find. The Generations set just had a repaint of the standard BOP. The Enterprise-D was awesome though!

No, pretty sure the Generations BOP was the moveable wing version because it was painted darker green. The regular fixed wing was bright green.

It was late 90s.. I had that 'Generations' Micro Machines set in my hand in a store with Enterprise-D with a separable saucer, why didn't I buy it. Dumb me.

I have a voy one micro machines. I could send it :)
The VOY shuttle?

I have also asked myself the same type of question several times. And considering my finances, I have sometimes asked the opposite question "why did I buy that?".

Ah, Playmates action figures ... where everybody's phaser was set to "The Most Toys" transporter interrupted firing status.

And where random characters carried dylithium crystals.

Looks like I'm super-late to this party, but I'm so stoked to see so many people fondly remembering Playmates Star Trek. They were (are) a near obsession for me as a kid. In Australia, we never even got all the figures (or had truncated waves released) so I went kinda nuts once I discovered eBay!

I maintain a tiny blog which attempts to preserve the visual pre-internet history of these toys (if anyone is interested)

Oh and to the dude who built the custom ops playset - sweet jesus - that is a thing of beauty!!
