I didn't mean to make it sound like I was making a big deal.
It stuck out to me in a bland trailer as something that was OO, look at us, we have zombies too!
Maybe a wee bit pandering. But, I feel that way, cause it seemed boring and a money grab this one... (Well, of course, ALL of them were... it's just that first movie was SO good... sigh)

please cite such a source. wikipedia says that this film cost less than the previous ones. However Depp's salary went up to the stratosphere.

Same here. Given that this one has dispensed with Bloom and Knightley and seems to be concentrating more on Jack Sparrow & Geoffrey Rush, it might be more fun. I'd've preferred 2 & 3 to have more a standalone setting like this than the convoluted messes we got.
But unless this gets great reviews &/or word of mouth, I think I'll give it a miss.

Yeah, I thought that too. But I think she was actually a Mermaid (at least that was the impression I got) so I'm thinking it's probably just a coincidence. Not to mention the fact that they her and Orlando Bloom aren't supposed be in this one, and if they did do cameos I doubt they would reveal it in the first trailer.Does anyone else think that girl at 1:25 and 2:00 looks like Keira Knightley? I'm worried about those scenes with her and that boy that she is making eyes at. I had really hoped that there wouldn't be a cheesy romance this time!
What happened to Barbossa's pirate clothes? Did he become a privateer?

I'm getting to this a little late, but cast my vote for liking it. Despite the fact I agree with the majority that II and III were not the best, overall, I still like this series.
And may I say that while I've never been a big fan of Penelope Cruz, she looked smokin' hot in that trailer!

I liked Will and Elizabeth, which is one reason I really don't care about this new film. That, and it looks boring.

I think it has been said in interviews that the Will and Elizabeth story has run its course and won't be revisited in this film. I have no ill will towards their story, but I am quite happy to have it finished. I do hope this film keeps more to the tone of the first film and keeps away from the overtly puerile humor the last two sometimes descended to.
