I doubt they will replace TOS duty uniforms. I imagine they did this because TOS never had any distinct Admiral uniforms. The way they adapted this one from TPM it fits perfectly among all the others. Considering we only saw it one time before this makes it a special treat.
I hope we see more of this type of thing in sequels. Its a new history but one that has similarities to the previous one. Costume and Production design changes have been fairly arbitrary in the past. There are a lot of great designs they could worked into this new history. But without needing to change everything, like was done in TPM and then again in TWOK.

No, I got it. It's a joke.
Sort of, they're both cool. But badass? Depends on your definition of badass. Pike's more a father figure, while Robau is simply badass. But I wouldn't depend on him to answer complicate questions. I equate badass with caveman-ish.
So, Robau lacks Pike's sense of Robau's badassness...or something to that effect.
