Pie Fillings

Miss Chicken

Little three legged cat with attitude

With some of the money my mother gave me for Xmas I bought a pie maker. So far I have made chicken/creamed corn pies and scallop/cheese sauce pies.

I am open to any suggestions of other good pie fillings - savoury or sweet.

"The Pie Maker" is the nickname for the main character, as constantly referenced by the narrator. ;)

I just had to research pie makers. I can't remember ever seeing one sold in North America -- though apparently they're big in Australia. I'm flabberghasted. How have I lived without one? (Though getting one would probably kill me.)

For the unknowing, it's like one of those sandwich makers, but with pie-shaped slots and deeper wells.

A chunky steak and mushroom pie...I love chunky steak and mushroom pies.

So for American audiences I guess you'd call it a Hot Pocket maker.

*Now has this uncontrollable urge to dance about the house singing 'The Worst Pies in London".*

Never heard of a pie maker or a sandwich maker. I can't really picture what they would look like.

Hot Pocket maker, huh? It seems we have a different definition of the word "pie."

And sandwiches...um, you put stuff between 2 pieces of bread. Why do you need a machine for that?

I believe I would call that a sandwich toaster. Or a panini press.

I take issue with the word "maker." It gives the impression that the machine itself actually makes the sandwich, when in reality, it simply toasts a sandwich that has already been made.

:p

Pie Trek.

Apple pies are my favourite

I have ton of apples in my shed that I harvested off my trees in the autumn. They're going brown and mouldy now. Even though I gave loads away, and am having apple-something for practically every meal  there's still a load left. They taste fine when they're cooked, but I don't much fancy the ones I've got left. I'm going to have to throw them away.

You should see the sugar I'm getting through as well.

My savoury favourite is mixed vegetables with kidney beans, a little gravy, and a little cayenne pepper. :)
