I saw a Vulcan fly today at the Royal Netherlands Air Force public days. Not the pointy ear kind, but the last flying survivor of the Avro Vulcan; one of the V-Bombers of Britain's Nuclear Strike Force. With a wingspan of 33 metres this aircraft is an impressive sight to behold both on the ground and in the air. The funds to fly and maintain this aircraft are raised completely by public donations and fundraising events. So I did my part by shopping in their (well priced!) gift store :).

For size comparison, in this picture the Vulcan flies in formation with a Hawker Hunter and a F-16.

After its flight, it was being refueled. Which took too long for me to get a nice shot from the front side. So I opted for a rear view. :p

Nice shots. It's always nice to see aviation history flying. Sadly, their numbers are diminishing each year as the cost to maintain keeps going up.

^ I really should go to one of such shows one of these days. never been to one and I don't want to miss out on history in action only because I've been too lazy. Although I must admit I wouldn't know where to find one.

Love the pics, Omnius! I think I had a model vulcan when I was a kid. :)

Here's the last picture I took of the last stray kitten we took in before we found a home for her:

She is adorable! Did you name her or do you know what name she has been given?

Here's my Force to be Reckoned With.

Henry has no clue how heavy he is, likes to accelerate to full speed and then jump on laps, and just generally has too much energy. I love him. :)

Thanks, I've got more. I'll PM a link.

Lol, sounds familiar! Cute dog :) My folks have two labs, a black 7 yr old called Mayra and a blonde 4 yr old called Pleun. Mayra loves to lie on your lap. She usually just sneaks onto you and looks at you with those very sad doggy eyes. If you dont comply with her demands, she'll sometimes just leap onto your lap. And yes, she's heavy :D.
Pleun doesnt like it much, she's quite comfortable lying at your feet or in her bench.

We named her dot for the small patch on her back but I'm sure she's been given a Romanian name by now.

He's a very handsome devil! Is he part lab?

^ We don't really know what Henry is. We got him from an animal shelter and they couldn't tell us. We think that he might be part lab part German shepherd.

This past weekend, I did a race, Big Horn 30k. There is one section where we have to climb a hill the goes up ~1000ft in less than a half-mile. Here is a view from about 1/3rd of the way up, looking up. Steep and not fun...

Once at the top of that, I decided that i needed a post-Haul picture. There is no posing, this is just me trying to catch my breath and not die while taking a self-portrait,

My friend, who has been sick for the past 2 months and I didn't expect to show up, surprised me at the finish line. Her showing up made my day:

No it's not that. Usually cadets aren't able to post pics. You have to have a certain amount of posts before you can. Just like with having an avatar.
