PICTURE POST!

We're lucky we don't live in an area prone to flooding, despite my city's reputation for it. Many of the surrounding areas haven't been so lucky.

macloudt, the pic of the red rose is excellent! I love photos where the light shines through flowers or leaves. You get such interesting shades there.

Thank you! The red rose is taller than me, so I was able to play with the late afternoon light. I must say, I'm chuffed with these photos. The camera was obviously worth the investment. :)

Me in 1994.

Age nineteen...about to turn twenty.

Is that a Starfleet insignia on your jacket, eddie, or dost my eyes deceive me?

Yep. Used to wear it a lot back then, too.

It's a Starfleet engineering(?) pin from the TMP era based on the red circle behind the delta arrow. Used to love sticking that thing in the lapels of my jackets and blazers.

Yes. I'm a complete and total nerd. Surprise. :)

Nerd? Pff. I was going to congratulate you for being so damned classy! :D

Back in those days, I was just as upfront about my love of Star Trek. I was a freshman in high school, then, and my nickname (aside from "God boy", "Flanders", "Bible boy", "Chase", and "Big Buford B") was "Mr. Spock". So don't feel alone in your nerdity. Embrace it! :D

I still wear something like that sometimes, but it's quite smaller (less than 1/2 inch I guess). To most people it just looks like an award or organization pin, and they don't give it a second look. But a few people recognize it, and it's an instant connection. ;)

(I must say that when I met astronaut Greg Johnson last year, he immediately recognized it, and we had a good laugh and a nice talk about it. Nerds go to space. :techman:)

Speaking of pics, I'm digging the new avatar Gary.

I think your Photoshop proves once and for all that Patrick Stewart(and possibly other TNG actors as well)would have looked damn good in TOS pilot shirts. The pilot uniforms have always been a favorite of mine for their basic simplicity, yet they got the job done of conferring that these are 23rd century space uniforms.
Thanks, CoolEddie. :) I couldn't resist when I spotted a shot of Picard with the right lighting and shadow casting to fit the photo. I think you're right that these early TOS uniforms had a more practical appeal to them. I wasn't too crazy about the black collared version that followed, as the shirts look almost like pajamas. It took a long time for them to finally grow on me. TWOK uniforms were definitely a step in the right direction, although that strap secured to the large button on the back looks very impractical.

^
I was sort of hoping that a variation and play on the TOS pilot shirts had been seen in J.J.'s last film as a nod to the style of uniform that preceded the black collared shirts in the Prime timeline, but I can see why he might not have wanted to do so. When most people think TOS costumes they think of the black collar shirts in the three most recognizable colors.

Besides, Nero changed history. In that altered timeline the ribneck shirts never appeared.

There. Earned my well deserved Geek Points™ for the day. :D

Yep! At the time, I was, shall we say, rather devout in my faith. :D
I had a number of nicknames in high school. I'm surprised anyone remembered my real name.

Hey, its Okaley Dokely with me. :techman:

Thanks. You should have seen me below the waist that day.

The photographer remembers that photo session as "the day that scarred her." It took her over a week just to pick up a camera again. They say she still gets the nervous shakes.

But...I digress.

Yes.

Signed,

Thanks for the confirmation link, CC. Appreciate that. I figured it was an engineering department insignia, but hadn't thought to double check over on Memory Alpha.

I posted the invitations I did earlier, so I thought I'd post pics of these as well. They are passport-themed booklets that are going to go into welcome bags. I thought I'd use more CA themed stuff since that's a big part of their wedding. The opening pages, I tried to stay kind of close to an actual passport except for the super cheesy poem. You can't see what all the inside pages look like, but they have info about the wedding weekend, stuff to do around town, things like that. This is just the prototype I made and I have one or two small layout changes, but it's almost finalized. The paper inside isn't coming across well in the pics, but it's a really smooth, buttery feeling cream colored paper. They'll be bound with a pamphlet stitch with grey thread that you can barely see in the first pic. Sorry again for blurry pics and the fact that I blurred out a ton of info!
