I was playing around yesterday with my new lens (Nikon 35mm f1.8 dx) and thought I'd share some of the results. I was purposely playing with depth of field, so the bokeh is intentionally rather exaggerated. These are all just the planter boxes around our deck.

Oh, those are lovely TrekkieMonster! The colour and sharpness are so intense. I'm no lens expert, but I like the first and last particularly.
What lens are you using on your 550D?

I do have to say that I am thrilled with this inexpensive little lens. Those pic's are straight out of the camera, with no post processing at all. I'm really enjoying playing with and getting to know my "new" baby.
I do have to stop buying lenses, though ... at least according to The Hubby.
Canon EF-S 18-135mm. You have the same camera, right? I think you mentioned that you have several lenses though.
Your wife looks very chilled and in great spirits in your shots, I don't think I've quite gotten the hang of easing people into non-self-consciousness when I stick a large camera in their face.
